When I heard The Frye Company was coming to Atlanta to open its very first store in the area, it immediately brought me back to my festival-going days with a big ole wave of nostalgia. Back to the days when I was carefree, restless and young, when I could be spotted in a pair of classic, rugged boots all over my early stomping grounds. And let me tell you, those boots would have some stories to share.  But they’ve withstood the test of time (I’ve had that pair for nearly a decade!), and have held up beautifully as all Fryes do.  All my fellow Frye owners can attest that the boots’ solid craftsmanship and classic designs (with just the right amount of edge) are some of those “Forever Items.”

With a shiny new store at Ponce City Market which is absolutely jaw dropping, comes a wonderful excuse to pick up another pair or two and that’s just what I did.  Today and tomorrow, I’m sharing scenes from a recent spin around town to a few of my favorite haunts in my new Fryes: Northside Tavern to catch the best live blues, Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall for a little brunch action, Gio’s…because how could I pass up one last gelato and much more.  All just a day in #TheFryeLife. Truly, MKR

P.S. This Saturday and Sunday I’ll be taking over the Frye Instagram, so be sure to tune in to find me at the best local spots (in my new Fryes of course). xo

A Blue and White Living Room

You know those rooms that never quite look as good as the photographs? Well this blue and white living room isn’t one of them.  I can personally attest to MKR’s incredibly styled living room that’s just as comfortable as it is beautiful, so I wanted to bring it out of The Archives to revisit in all its glory today. (It really does look like this all of the time!)

MKR originally shared this peek into her home as part of One Kings Lane’s Style It Challenge and the debut of these amazing foo dog X benches. While working on the project, I quickly learned how versatile these benches really can be, on top the fact that I’m utterly in love with their look as well.

But all of the design feels don’t stop at the X benches.  The plethora of designer pillows atop a large cream sectional sofa create a truly stunning effect, and it’s my favorite part of the room. The variety of blues calm, inspire and welcome you to cuddle into the sofa’s depths. For the record, after sitting right here, I’m forever cursed with the never-ending hunt for a deep, comfortable sofa like this one.

You’d think the design would stop there, but alas there’s a fantastic silver-trunk-turned-coffee-table (this is MKR we’re talking about here, after all) and the thing is styled to perfection. It sits happily atop a grand area rug that I could only hope to own a similar one someday.

Lastly, and of course, a thriving fiddle leaf fig tree peeks out among the furniture in MKR’s living room like in any designers’ impeccably styled home. Though I’ve heard her joke many a time about how hard it is to keep those fickle things alive. (I know what you’re saying…maybe this would be a better option?!)

So what are you waiting for? Get to pinning! It’s a blue and white living room for the ages. Cheers, Kat

I’ve talked often about the LBD—little black dress—but today I’m talking about my other beloved LBD.  The little BLUE dress.  And today’s LBD is a true summer staple with its bright floral pattern and trim, flattering fit and a go-to for summer weddings and events.

You know when you’ve found “your color” and you simply gravitate to it in every occasion? Blue is that for me.  I always like to mix and match shades of the color, from navy to pastels and buttery blues to those rich-like-the-ocean shade of azure.  So whenever I do go all-in for a monochromatic blue look, I bring in textures and fine details to keep it fun and interesting.

And by textures and fine details, I mean lots of fringe (because, duh), scalloped edges and embellished pockets.  Loeffler Randall does a killer scallop with their heels (exhibit A seen above and in other colors right here), and you already know about my strong love affair with this white fringe handbag (on MAJOR sale!!!) by Proenza Schouler.  So you can only imagine the second I saw this navy coat with its fringe edges and utterly fabulous bejeweled pockets, I did a few twirls in it and swore it had to be mine right then and there.  While this jacket will look amazing with some jeans and a white tee I love pairing a piece like this over a more prim-and-proper piece like this blue and white floral dress because it gives the look a little edge and flair.  And every outfit needs a little flair, don’t you agree?  Truly, MKR
