I know I’ve probably said I’ve had several “favorite shoots” from the past, but this one is definitely on the top of that list.  I always find myself drawn to this lush, blooming Easter tablescape from the archives for entertaining inspiration this time of year.  There’s something so beautiful in the cheery yellows and greens, and what better time to let them shine than Easter Sunday?

With a floral centerpiece like this, you don’t need to worry about adding much else to your table; the blooms stand alone to make such a stunning statement.  You know I’m a big fan of spring, and I love how Lindsay Coletta allowed these spring blooms to cascade onto the tabletop in a bit of an unruly way…very much like fresh flowers growing in the wild.  And as if we needed more pretty on the table, in the original post and today, MKR inspires us with her ability to pattern play with stacking complimentary plates (how sweet are these new bunny plates?!) all atop cheery raffia placemats

I can’t share this gorgeous tablescape without mentioning that Lush Cakery has me drooling still to this day over her fluffy coconut cake.  And of course, there’s plenty of room for other Easter treats (like Peter Cottontail Cupcakes and Homemade Pistachio Pudding) to truly celebrate the holiday! Cheers, Kat

Cheery & Festive Christmas Day Brunch Inspiration

After Presents Are Unwrapped, Set the Scene for an Indulgent Mid-Morning Brunch

Christmas morning brunch became a tradition for my family only when my mom had to start waking US up rather than the other way around, around the same time when we began to appreciate having a food coma-inducing brunch just as much as the presents under the tree.  Though our menu usually consists of fancy homemade french toast and crispy bacon, we’re pretty much on the same page as MKR here; share a meal that makes you throw the calorie count out of the window and bask in all things cozy.  And yes, we’re definitely still in our pajamas to enjoy our Christmas Day brunch too!

In this amazing Christmas Day brunch photoshoot pulled from the archives and shared in our 40-page holiday guide, MKR serves a spread worthy of leisurely indulgence atop a masterfully set tablescape that’s wonderfully cheery and festive.  The menu?  Think warm, flaky, buttery croissants (the classics of course, but also chocolate!) and a goat cheese and spinach quiche with fresh orange juice, and a little bit of bubbly.

Needless to say, the entire spread (including this stunning hanging wreath DIY) is drop dead gorgeous and well-worth archiving right in time for the big day.  Head over to the original post to be even more inspired.  Cheers, Kat

Cherished Holiday Traditions: Part II

Christmas Morning Gingerbread Pancakes with World Market

By the time wrapping paper and bows are strewn everywhere, and opened gifts litter the living room floor on Christmas morning, it’s time for another cherished holiday tradition in the Rye household: Christmas morning brunch. You’ll remember our holiday brunch routine we shared here a few years ago; a mid-morning feast with pajamas still on, and the glorious stretch of time before that inevitable Christmas day nap.  It’s plain to see that we take this meal just as seriously, year after year, maybe even more than the gift wrapping and the ornament swapping (if that’s even possible).

After taste testing World Market’s Gingerbread Pancake Mix last Saturday, I knew I had found the star of this year’s Christmas morning brunch menu.  A stack of warm, fluffy, gingerbread pancakes would be just what we need to settle into that cozy Christmas day coma.  Oh and can we talk about how cute this maple syrup gingerbread man is?! On sale too!

Because you know I always like to add a little something to my dishes, I played around with a few additions to the pancake mix; I sprinkled chopped pecans into the batter for that beloved crunch you know I always love and grated fresh nutmeg on top for that little bit of warmth.  Doused in maple syrup these semi-homemade gingerbread pancakes are the perfect option for Christmas morning (or really any morning), because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to over-exert themselves too much in the kitchen on this joyous day!  Truly, MKR
