I know I’ve probably said I’ve had several “favorite shoots” from the past, but this one is definitely on the top of that list.  I always find myself drawn to this lush, blooming Easter tablescape from the archives for entertaining inspiration this time of year.  There’s something so beautiful in the cheery yellows and greens, and what better time to let them shine than Easter Sunday?

With a floral centerpiece like this, you don’t need to worry about adding much else to your table; the blooms stand alone to make such a stunning statement.  You know I’m a big fan of spring, and I love how Lindsay Coletta allowed these spring blooms to cascade onto the tabletop in a bit of an unruly way…very much like fresh flowers growing in the wild.  And as if we needed more pretty on the table, in the original post and today, MKR inspires us with her ability to pattern play with stacking complimentary plates (how sweet are these new bunny plates?!) all atop cheery raffia placemats

I can’t share this gorgeous tablescape without mentioning that Lush Cakery has me drooling still to this day over her fluffy coconut cake.  And of course, there’s plenty of room for other Easter treats (like Peter Cottontail Cupcakes and Homemade Pistachio Pudding) to truly celebrate the holiday! Cheers, Kat

8 Reasons to Love Spring

Here's Why We're Counting Down til the Season Starts
Filed Under > Entertaining

I’m always so excited to welcome spring.  Around this time every winter, I long for warmer weather, spring flowers and time in the park.  Spring means the start to patio season, so that’s reason to celebrate in itself (hello rosé!).  This is also the time I start to really plan upcoming summer travel, so springtime becomes a time of eager anticipation and looking ahead.  Spring cleaning used to sound daunting to me, but I now welcome that too, thinking of it as a time to refresh.

Click through the slideshow above to find eight of the reasons I love the season, though the reasons are virtually endless. Do you look love spring as much as I do? What are you most looking forward to?  Cheers, Kat

How to Set a Table

A Gorgeous Guide to Formal and Informal Place Settings
Filed Under > Entertaining

How to set a table: formal place settings guide | Waiting on MarthaHow to set a table: informal place settings | Waiting on Martha

We’re big advocates for all things entertaining here, and that of course includes tabletops.  And setting a beautiful tabletop, whether that’s for a dinner party or a simple Sunday supper, all starts with remembering where the wine glass goes and which bread plate is whose.

Because a beautiful tabletop never goes out of style, and because I know I can always go for a little refresher on tabletop basics, I knew it was due time to pull this oldie-but-goodie out of the archives.  It doesn’t hurt that our place settings guide is just as gorgeous as it is helpful.  Rustic White captured the guides styled by MKR herself, and the talented Jamie Jimenez helped spell out where each instrument and accompaniment should go in the most stunning way (I think I’ll be a sucker for stunning script on kraft paper forever + ever). Lastly, Vanessa at Vintage English Teacup has one of the most amazing collections of vintage china that I’ve ever laid eyes on, and this shoot always gives me a little inspo for more pattern play on my tabletop at home!  Cheers, Kat
