Break A Sweat Every Day

"New Year, New You"? Here Are 5 New Workouts to Consider
Filed Under > Health & Wellness

Though I’m focusing my New Year’s intentions on more practices of mindfulness and bettered daily habits, I’m not here to deny the lure of “New Year-New You” fitness resolutions either. With the new year, I’m charged up to establish and maintain a consistent workout routine, vowing to break a sweat at least once a day, every day.

I’ve touched upon my fitness routine here a few times; I’m no crossfitter or Pure Barre devotee. As you may remember, I fell in love with HIIT workouts a few months ago, as well as completed my first half marathon (as a non-runner!) last spring. I thoroughly enjoy a good workout, but I’m also fickle about my attention span and commitment to a routine.  I’ll be quick admit that work, travel and life just sometimes get in the way.  But as I enter the new year with a recharged sense of self, I do recognize that I’m happiest with a variety of fitness classes. Luckily, the genius app ClassPass, allows me to try various studios around town to get my fix, without plateauing on any one style.

Check out the five workouts on my mind right now in the slideshow above. I’ve included some I’m currently obsessing over (hello Barre3) and ones I’m eager to try (OrangeTheory I’ll see you soon.) Which have you decided to try this year?  Cheers, Kat

TRX

I SURPRISED MYSELF WITH HOW MUCH I ENJOYED MY FIRST TRX CLASS AND I LOVE INCORPORATING THIS SCALABLE WORKOUT IN MY WEEKLY ROUTINE. WHILE ONLY 30 MINUTES LONG, THE CLASS MADE MY HEART RACE, MADE SWEAT DRIP DOWN MY FACE AND MADE MY MUSCLES SCREAM AT ME. AS SUSPENSION TRAINING, TRX USES BODYWEIGHT EXERCISE TO DEVELOP STRENGTH, BALANCE AND FLEXIBILITY.

  • I’m not sure what class I’m trying next probably Pilates and yoga. I’m currently in Barre and I like it. I’ve take a Thai Boxing class so far this year and it wasn’t completely my thing. I really enjoy cycling so I’m sure there will plenty of that again this year.
