Is there anything better than fresh flowers?  Fresh flowers can brighten even the grayest of days and with the weather as of late I all take all of the brightening I can get!

I have to begin by saying that I always find myself drawn to (a) any and every peony arrangement and (b) any floral arrangement that provides a depth of layers, colors, sizes and textures.  But while I am a sucker for these blooms, I can also say I’m guilty of being lazy when it comes to creating actual arrangements at home.  It’s all too easy to just clip and display singe-flower arrangements; and while still stunning lately I’ve been trying to leave my comfort zone and set out to be a little more creative.

For example, with today’s arrangement I really just played around with what I loved! Billowy white peonies and sherbet-colored roses play off the deep, rich tones of the antique hydrangeas, red and white parrot tulips, and assorted seasonal blooms and berries that for the life of me I can’t remember their names.  But isn’t that the fun of it all; having no plan and just picking what speaks to you?!  And of course I bypassed the traditional vase instead opting for a vintage ice bucket because as I always say a vase is any vessel that holds water.

The final product? A floral bouquet that’s anything but generic, full of interesting counterpoints, while also just a bit unkempt. What’s your favorite way of adding a little creativity to your arrangements at home?  Truly, MKR
