Planning an Easter tablescape, means setting the table for a happy, bright, and spring gathering. More importantly it means a chance to welcome loved ones around the table with great food and blessings.

To celebrate a special occasion like Easter Sunday, I’m always eager to set the table with anything and everything Juliska.  Many of you will recognize the dinnerware as I’ve been gradually adding to my beautiful collection over the past few years.  Its Country Estate line in Flint is perhaps my favorite design of all. Country Estate is anything but generic; its design makes every day dining just special enough, and is the perfect starting point when I’m dreaming up a table that is fit for a feast. The dinnerware sits atop green straw placemats, which have quickly become my favorite accompaniment to any place setting.  Lastly, to bring a softness to the Easter tablescape, I used Juliska’s Arabella Petal Pink Goblets and Arabella Petal Pink Tumblers as the glassware.

What else to include, you ask?  Seasonal, fresh flowers are always a must.  But they’re made more festive in a moss “grown up” Easter basket, and when they’re accompanied by plenty of tiny, sweet signs of spring throughout the entire spread.  Think delicate bird nests with festive speckled eggs, everyone’s favorite chocolate bunnies, fresh herbs, a carrot cake and macaroons I can not take credit for (thanks Williams Sonoma), but a few and mouth-watering main and side dishes I’m happy to say I can (recipes coming this week!). The table will be busy, yes, but with that busyness comes a certain vibrant energy to any space and gathering.

So, friends, to spread the Easter cheer, I’m thrilled to announce that one of our lucky readers will win $250 to Juliska to set their own stunning table at home. Though I do wish you luck settling on your purchase; Juliska makes hundreds of beautiful items for the table and home, so the selection will be a tough one (so naturally I say: start collecting!).  Each piece is inspired by “the joy of bringing people together and helping create a happy home,” which as you know, is something I’m very passionate about as well.  A big thank you to Juliska for the generous opportunity, and I wish you all the best of luck!  Truly, MKR

Braised Beef Short Ribs & Irish Soda Bread with Fresh Herbs

Two Classic and Comforting Dishes Fit for an Irish Feast

You’ll want to grab a plate and pull up a seat at this gorgeous Irish inspired dinner because Chef Jason at Homespun has prepared a truly drool-worthy menu.  Think tender seasoned beef that doesn’t require a knife anywhere near it, sweet, yet savory roasted vegetables and a warm loaf of homemade Irish soda bread with fresh parsley and chives fresh out of the oven. This is one of those meals that you’ll be sorry to join the “clean plate club” for, but don’t worry…it all tastes even better on your second helping.

Thank your oh-so-handy dutch oven for working the magic on these braised beef short ribs.  They’re truly slow cooked to perfection alongside a glorious mix of fingerlings, carrots, celery and garlic. Guinness, wine and sherry vinegar offer quite the tasty base for the beef, while a sachet of fresh rosemary, thyme and salt and pepper provide the last layer of seasonings.

Irish soda bread really needs no introduction, am I right?  But this gorgeous loaf (yes, bread can totally be gorgeous) reminds us all just how much better homemade really tastes.  Just don’t even THINK about serving it without that creamy, local grass fed butter

If your St. Patrick’s Day gathering doesn’t include a warm, comforting meal like this with a big glass of Guinness…well, you may want to reconsider. Big thanks to the entire creative team on this shoot for inspiring us with a truly stunning St. Patty’s Day spread.  Cheers, Kat

Cold Hands Warm Heart Cocoa Party

On a chilly December day I gathered some of my best gal pals (In Honor of DesignHunted InteriorWonderfully Lost, and Little Baby Garvin) and their kiddos to make a trek to Bottoms’ Tree Farm for an afternoon of trees and treats.

Getting to this day was a struggle to say the least.  While the rest of the country was getting hit with snow storms Georgia got rain.  And I mean rain…for days.  So we had to reschedule I think 3 different times.  But third times a charm, and with the sun shining and some unexpected help from the perfect model horses (do you die over their blonde bangs) the day was pure perfection.  And to be honest it’s probably my favorite shoot to date (hence the million pictures that I just had to share…thanks RW).

I’ll be posting all week with the recipes as well as all of the outfit details (huge hugs to Gap and Old Navy who kept us all cozy and warm), but make sure to check out the other ladies blogs today (Anna, Kristin, Amanda, and Jessica) for their recount of time at the farm.  Happy Monday Loves!  truly, MKR

P.S. Congrats to Sarah Tiambeng the winner of our HP Spread Joy giveaway!
