Okay, so you typically won’t find me drinking moonshine on any old day.  But when this time of year rolls around, and it’s an apple pie moonshine cocktail, well…that’s something I can get behind.  Being on the brink of fall, I’m adding apples to just about everything I’m eating and drinking which includes this drink!  This cocktail is incredibly simple to mix together, and would make for a great batch drink or punch at your tailgate, bonfire, or Halloween party.  And don’t be afraid of the whole “moonshine” aspect, I promise it’s not as potent as the tales will have you believe.

For my apple pie moonshine coctkail, you’ll want to find apple pie moonshine if you can, but if you can’t, don’t worry.  Simply add apple cider (this is my favorite) into your regular moonshine for a sip that’s still as seasonal as it gets.  Pour your shine and cider over ice (I love these giant ice cubes), add a squeeze of fresh lemon, and garnish with crisp granny smith apples and whole cinnamon sticks.  Mix, settle in and get cozy!  Truly, MKR

Frose, The Perfect Champagne Rosé Slushy

Frose, The Perfect Rose Slushie

Previously dubbed the ultimate summer cocktail of 2015 by T&C, a rosé slushy, or better known as Frose, most certainly has my heart and attention in 2016 as well.  I can’t really think of a more ideal scenario than sipping on rose slushy after rose slushy poolside all summer long.

Because I needed to do my due diligence when frose recipe testing I tried out numerous combos to come up with the perfect slushy.  The winner combines a bottle of rosé champagne and elderflower liquor to give it the perfect subtle sweetness a rosé slushy deserves.

I wanted to share this must-try recipe today so you have time to prepare and serve it while the holiday weekend is still in full swing!  You’ll quickly find just how easy it is; simply mix all of your ingredients: 1 bottle of rosé champagne, 1/2 cup of Campari, 1/2 cup of water and 1/4 cup of St. Germain elderflower liquor in a bowl, pour into extra large ice cube trays and freeze overnight. The next day, check on your frozen rosé ice cubes remembering , the alcoholic mixture will not fully freeze, but remain a slushy consistency.  And when you’re ready to get your rose on simply place your cubes in a blender and blend.  On quick tip before blending, I set a few cubes aside to plop in the top of my drink.

To serve, pour in a tall soda-fountain glass, or champagne coupe, and plop one last frozen rosé cube with a sprig of fresh thyme to garnish.  You can really garnish with anything here; think orange, lemon, lime, fresh mint, fresh lavender, etc.  Cheers, friends and happy rose holiday!  Truly, MKR

Spiced Orange & Rosemary Bourbon

This Vibrant Winter Cocktail Is Sure to Warm You Up

A few years ago you couldn’t have paid me to order Bourbon anything.  And while wine will always be my drink of choice, as of late I’ve been crushing hard on this brown liquor.  Of course, in the spring and summertime, I turn to bourbon for my Mint Juleps and Tupelo Honey.  But the perfect winter cocktail?  My Spiced Orange & Rosemary Bourbon.  There’s just something about bourbon that warms you down to your toes, and with this cold front, my toes can use all the warmth they can get.

Vibrant and full-bodied, this spiced orange bourbon cocktail packs the punch I’ve come to appreciate and the combination of citrus spiced orange and rosemary has quickly become one of my favorite, yet simple, flavor infusions.  This time of year it’s like comfort in a glass!

To serve, I simply pour over round ice molds, add a dash of my spiced orange syrup, a fresh orange peel, a rosemary sprig, and cheers!  It’s a dangerously easy drink to down (don’t say I didn’t warn you). But for the record, I think it’s completely reasonable to request that you make yours a double!  Truly, MKR
