Whimsy & Wellness crystal roller bottles, Waiting on Martha

When I first got into essential oils, I never imagined just how big a role they’d play in my everyday routine.  I also had no idea essential oils would be my gateway into anything remotely “woo-woo” like healing crystals.

Fast forward a few steps into my wellness journey, and I here I am, using 15+ oils every day, and am a true believer of the benefits of having a holistic health practice, with countless healing crystals lying around my house to boot.

But because I know there’s still some skeptics out there, and because I know once you give everything a chance you’ll be as hooked as I am, I’m giving away this set of five crystal roller bottles, our favorite books on healing crystals and essential oils plus four Young Living essential oils to get you started!

I first caught wind of Whimsy & Wellness, an Etsy shop ran by Haylee in Sacramento, over the holidays when I was getting really “oily” and looking up dozens of DIY essential oil roller bottle blends.  Whimsy & Wellness is the center of genius for the covetable roller bottles that I kept seeing everywhere.  So of course, I just had to get my hands on the holiday set in gold.  And since then, I’ve embraced every excuse to stock up on more including her amazingness including her cleaning bottles. You didn’t think essential oils where just for diffusing did you?

Anyway, ever since Haylee went to the huge Tucson gem show, we’ve impatiently awaited the release of this set of gorgeous crystal roller bottles.   Perfect for all our essential oil combos, each one of the 10-mL crystal roller bottles feature a matte gold lid and 2-3 grams of healing crystals hand-chosen and crafted.  Below, I’ve broken down each crystal, its meaning, and an easy DIY roller blend to try with each!

Plus don’t forget to enter to win your own set of five crystal roller bottles, a copy of Essential Healing Crystals, a copy of Essential Oils for Beginners and a bottle of Sacred Frankincense, Blue Cypress, Tangerine Vitality and Lemongrass via the Rafflecopter widget below.  Good luck! Truly, MKR

P.S. If you’re interested in adding essential oils to your wellness journey, check out our close-knit group and all the FAQ’s over at HERE.  It’s impossible not to fall down the rabbit hole with all things “oily” and we’d love to be part of your journey.  In fact if you end up signing for a Premium Kit…11 of the best Grade A, Therapeutic Essential Oils and diffuser, DM us and we’ll refund your shipping costs! Truly, MKR

The One Room Challenge 2016: Week Four

The Office's Entryway Styling Welcomes A Mixture of Textures
Filed Under > Ideas & Inspiration

Foyer styling by Waiting on Martha in The One Room Challenge 2016 Upholstered x benches in the entryway, Waiting on MarthaWhite pagoda mirror and blue stone lamp, Waiting on Martha #interiors #styling

This week’s peek at our progress in the ever-exciting 6-week One Room Challenge of designing the WOM office is, as promised in Week 2, another styled vignette.  If you remember, last week I shared scenes from my desk (with a killer light box that I think every person should find a spot for #justsaying) but this week’s vignette it’s all about our newly styled entryway.

When styling an entryway that is functional, but truly makes a statement—which you know I had to do because it’s the WOM office we’re talking about here—I’m a big proponent of variety.  Variety in height, variety in textures, and variety in pieces that are as functional as they are beautiful.  So when deciding on pieces and decorative accents for the entry I went with a less is more attitude (so not like me) and aimed to keep the coloring fairly neutral with a pop of the bluest of blues and a thorough mixture of textures.

Now when I say textures, I mean rich, intricately detailed textures that bring a little intrigue to a space.  To accomplish that in our entry I chose a faux cowhide rug (we used the golden brown in the entryway and you’ll see the white layered atop a sisal rug in the conference room soon!), a faux ostrich and gold nailhead console table, a very interesting, and just a tad crazy, horse skull to add that hint of masculinity I love and a jagged stone turquoise lamp to add that hint of femininity I crave.  And if that wasn’t enough mixing of textures to top it all off I hung a giant, statement making white bamboo mirror.   I know just like with patterns y’all tend to get a little nervous.  But when mixing textures, don’t hesitate to incorporate pattern and color as well; a single pop of color and any pattern along your original color palette will allow the mixing to work every time.  And can we just stop for a minute and talk about these faux cowhide rugs from Lulu & Georgia.  They look incredibly “real,” but with no guilt or eeew feeling that it was once a living creature, plus the cost is extremely reasonable!  Win win!!

Lastly, I mentioned functionality, which is always key for me in any space.  A few things that are a MUST HAVE for me in any entry way are: a mirror for any last minute zhushing, a trinket tray, in the case the gold hamsa hand, allowing a place for keys, and some sort of bench or ottoman to put on or take off your shoes.   I especially love when the ottomans can easily slide under the console table since many entry ways are narrow and don’t provide a lot of room.  These particular ottomans were designed by yours truly in a gorgeous chinoiserie patterned fabric from Lacefield and brought to life by some of the most skilled workmen in the trade, Westside Custom Upholstery.

Tell me friends, are you liking how the space is coming together? Truly, MKR

Goin’ Coastal

An easy coastal themed tabletop perfect for relaxed summer entertaining
Filed Under > "Hostess with the Mostest"

With the first day of summer officially come and gone I’m focused on soaking up every bit that summer has to offer. Which for me means easy, relaxed dinners alfresco.

Typically in summer with the heat being what it is I like to keep the meals light, which usually means seafood. Grilled fish, shrimp skewers, and in today’s case white wine and garlic clams. And with seafood typically on the menu my summer table decor tend to lean in the coastal direction. Think blues, whites, and natural fabrics mixed in with no fuss accents. Which is exactly what I’m sharing today.

If you asked me to pick a favorite from this setting, I couldn’t. I honestly want every single piece. The updated take on spongeware by Mark D. Sikes mixes perfectly with my favorite blue and white stripes and coastal inspired melamine accents like these $5 dipping dishes and the bread board. And the rattan accents in the form of placemats, glassware and place card holders add that relaxed feeling that is summer.

And continuing on the theme of relaxed, our no-iron linen napkins are an absolute must for entertainers of all levels. They’re not too fussy and YES no-iron means no-iron. So you can wash them time and time again and they’ll be ready to go from the dryer straight to the table.

Lastly, I rounded everything out with ivory acrylic flatware in the shape of bamboo, melamine wine coasters, cobalt blue hibiscus VIETRI bud vases filled with tulips, and sea-salt citronella candles to keep the bugs away. And I pulled out my bamboo folding chairs. I ordered two sets of these years ago and I’m so glad I did. I love having them at the ready for extra guests or any extra seating needs. I really do use them all the time!

Jumping back to the flatware real quick; these stopped me in my tracks when I first spied them. I had wanted the traditional brown bamboo flatware for ages, but had never pulled the trigger and I’m so glad I didn’t because the ivory is STUNNING! Plus it goes with absolutely everything. I did say I couldn’t play favorites, but if I was pushed it would be these!

So that’s it friends. A relaxed summer tabletop ready for all those long summer nights ahead. Enjoy! Truly, MKR
