It’s amazing how a quick change in tabletop can make a room look completely different. Case in point setting the table with the new, jaw-dropping Schumacher for Williams Sonoma Collection.

Have you seen this collection yet? For those of you not familiar at all with Schumacher let me give you a quick run down. Schumacher was founded in 1889 by Frederic Schumacher, and quickly became the industry leader in textiles, wall coverings and trimmings. This legendary American design house is renowned for its unwavering commitment to beauty, artistry and quality and is a go-to for designers all over the world. So when they joined forces with Williams Sonoma, I knew the collaboration would be iconic.

This exclusive collection is the first time ever Schumacher has allowed their iconic patterns to be available in dinnerware and entertaining pieces and by how beautiful the collection turned out they’ve all got to be asking, why didn’t we do this sooner?!?!

I cannot tell you how much fun I had setting this table. This collection, at its heart, is a pattern and color lovers dream which is was waited with bated breath for it to launch.

Not only was I anxious to see which iconic Schumacher patterns were going to make the collection, I loved knowing that I would be able mix and match all of the different Schumacher patterns such as ikat, dragon, and chinois fret and the end result will feel cohesive and effortless. This is what I’m always talking about when mixing patterns…be bold, don’t be afraid friends!

Plus, from an entertaining standpoint this collection is so full and colorful there was no need to crowd the table with additional decor such as candles and loads of florals. I kept it simple by combining an orchid I already had potted at home and a few white hydrangeas from my garden combined in the Schumacher Ikat Ginger Jar.

While the entire collection is stunning, my personal favorites have to be the dragon ice bucket that is literally so large it can hold 3 bottles of wine! The amazingly intricate dragon decanter and matching double old fashioned glasses. And lastly all of the fabrics, specifically the napkin collection. They’re so beautiful and at such a great price!

At the end of the day every Schumacher for Williams Sonoma piece can completely stand on it’s own, but my suggestion…have fun with this one because the collection is truly meant to be mixed, matched, and swooned over. Truly, MKR

P.S. Come back this weekend when I’ll be sharing my recipe for the easiest ever Korean Ground Beef recipe as pictured above.

I’m hungry just looking at the photos from our recent team outing to Ribalta, a real-deal, authentic Neopolitan pizza restaurant in the heart of Midtown here in the A.  Our glorious long lunch was another notch in the team’s book for a little off-duty fun (you may remember our day making biscuits with Callie and taking a few notes on cooking from GP).  I had tasted the Ribalta goodness a few times before, so I knew it was just the place to bring the team for a true, one-of-a-kind pizza experience.

And an experience we had.  The Ribalta team showed us the definition of warm Italian hospitality, and it was clear that they didn’t intend for us to leave until we were nice, full and happy. They graciously welcomed us with a glass or two of red and white wine, while inviting us to sit back and share a few of their vibrant small plates (think the freshest bruschetta, delectable fried calamari and a wonderful caprese salad).  We all agreed the small plates alone were magnificent, but we all also knew we needed to save room for the main act…the pizza!  We were, after all, not just there to eat the pizza, but were given aprons and showed behind the counter for a little lesson in pizza making.

In talking to the staff (with our hands covered in flour), we quickly learned what sets Ribalta apart from the rest when it comes to their pizza making.  You see, Ribalta considers itself a traditionalist when it comes to dough; the restaurant only uses a mixture of flours that are certified by the Italian flour mill Le 5 Stagioni and natural yeast straight from Italy.  The result?  Pizza that’s light, easy to digest for all of you that are gluten intolerant, and absolutely divine.

As we learned a few secrets in rolling the dough we stretched, pulled and crafted our own personal pizzas.  Before placing them each in the wood fire oven, we added fresh, flavorful toppings: thick-cut bacon, delicate prosciutto, fresh buffalo mozzarella, juicy tomatoes and fresh basil.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it!  Then into the woodfire they went only needing to cook about 1 minute because of the crazy high heat!  The result, quite possibly one of the best pizzas I ever ate.

A big ‘grazie’ to Rosario, Pasquale and the entire Ribalta team for letting us experience the magic that’s in your kitchen.  We will, of course, be back soon…and probably on a Sunday when bottles of wine are half-priced.  Ha!  Truly, MKR

A Mother’s Day Brunch With J.McLaughlin

Easy, Effortless Looks for Mom & Me for Mother's Day Brunch

If there’s ever a reason to go all out, I’d say Mother’s Day is an obvious choice.  This year when prepping for the big day, I had an idea of what I wanted to pull together; a no-fuss brunch filled with all of mom’s favorites.  Miniature cast iron skillet quiches, almond filled croissants, macaroons, and the ultimate fruit tart.  A fresh (and super simple) salad of grilled Georgia peaches, spring snap peas, and candied pecans, plus a seasonal rhubarb and strawberry fizzy libation (recipes coming this week).  And of course, plenty of cheeses and nuts to nibble on, as I know we’ll linger at the table long after official brunch hours are through.

This year, though, I knew the biggest treat of all wouldn’t be the brunch, but rather what I had waiting for her at brunch.  You see my Mother is one of the most selfless, giving, generous people I know.  Always caring for others before herself, often pushing her needs and wants to the side, which means Mama K does not treat herself near enough.  So along with brunch and blooms, I also had a new spring wardrobe waiting for her from one of our favorites, J.McLaughlin.

J.McLaughlin is a go-to for me when I’m in need of high quality, effortless looks that I (and Mom) will wear for years to come.  For Mom, I picked out a few spring shirtdresses in punched up patterns I knew she could dress up for a date night with Dad, or throw on some sandals for a more casual day look.  Because Mom loves color, I also snagged her these amazing silk and linen pants in marigold (I grabbed the ivory for myself), a blue gingham button down and easy summer sweater.  I, of course, couldn’t resist picking up a few things for myself like this classic and comfortable stripe dress, pom-pom shorts because obviously they have pom-poms, and my soon to be worn-way-too-much palm river hat.

To say Mom was surprised by the day is an understatement.  It helped that we celebrated early since little did she know she’d also be wrangled into a photo shoot, which honestly I wish you could have been a fly on the wall for.  Let’s just say food styling and modeling are not Mama K’s forte, though she is rocking that dress pretty well.  So what do you have up your sleeve to celebrate Mom this year?  Truly, MKR

P.S.  If you’re scratching your head over just what to get Mom this year, check out these timeless wardrobe pieces and gift ideas.  I think I already know what Mama K is eyeing.  xo
