It’s no secret I love wine.  In fact I’d say its become a true passion of mine.  So when La Crema (a wine I’ve been drinking for years) reached out about their Virtual Vintner program I was all in.  In fact not only was I all in, but so where my girlfriends who I invited over for a little dinner party to test out the Virtual Vintner program and of course toast it with a glass or two (or three) of  La Crema

Virtual Vintner is a digital initiative of which the wine world has never seen.  It allows consumers an intimate, hands-on look into the world of wine making.  A “choose your own adventure” style journey captured through digital touch points and real time voting where consumers are able to learn about varietals, appellation, specific vineyards, barrel treatment, and even wine naming and label design.  A journey that will ultimately determine a finished wine released in late Fall 2015.  Its a way for everyone, regardless of who they are and where they are, to experience the beauty that is wine making.  A beauty that I’m also thrilled (on cloud nine) to say I’m going to be experiencing first hand.

You see La Crema is making one of my dreams come true.  They’ve graciously invited me to work harvest at their vineyards in Sonoma.  That’s right, starting next Monday I’ll be heading back to my favorite place on earth to crush some grapes and make some wine.  And just to be clear I’m not talking tour the vineyards and taste wine all day, I’m talking work.  No matter the weather conditions, however many hours a day, bugs be damn, whatever harvest calls for is what I’ll be doing.  I’m half scared (I mean I’m really not cut out for physical labor) half excited beyond belief.  And I’ll be taking you all along for the ride through a digital diary on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook so make sure you’re following to see what a day in the life of a vintner is really like.  Cheers!  truly, MKR

P.S. I’m also sharing my Crostini 7 Ways recipe from above over on the La Crema’s Blog so while you’re checking out Virtual Vintner make sure you grab that for your next dinner party.

Something Blue…Part II

When creating the look of our “bride” (Ms. Tiffany Olson) on her big day I knew I wanted to do two very different, yet equally stunning looks.  A soft classic bride and one with a little more vamp.  With the help of Claudia Mejerle and a few well placed accessories we accomplished just that…actually more than that as we ended the day with three looks.

For the first, a softer more classic bride Tiffany wore soft loose waves, a never ending veil and a neutral lip.  The veil was worn both over her face (a personal fave of mine), and then cascading down her back and well past the train of her Junko Yoshioka dress.  For the second, vamped up version, an eye veil was a must plus a deep bordeaux lip, and of course a smoky eye.  Claudia took her hair from  soft to a messier, wavy teased look.  And lastly Tiffany’s hair was pulled back into the most gorgeous bun and pinned with a vintage brooch.  This allowed us to really showcase all of the accessories and let’s be honest…as a bride it’s much easier to dance the night away when you’re not worrying about your hair!

Speaking of accessories.  I mean what can I say…I pulled out the big guns.  Chanel, McQueen, Olympia.  It was literally every fashion obsessed girls dream day.  The insane Chanel pearl and acrylic bracelet and pearl necklace with the iconic C’s draped down Tiffany’s back was really all the bling she needed.  But of course enough is really never enough so I had to add a navy and black leather floral Chanel brooch to the back of her sash because a bride should look amazing both coming and going.  And her Charlotte Olympia navy satin shoes and Alexander McQueen clutch made my, and Tiffany’s, jaw drop.  But the cherry on the sundae for me were the gloves.  I believe very strongly that your wedding day is yours and if you want to wear fingerless Chanel driving gloves then that’s your prerogative.  I mean really, who wouldn’t want to wear Chanel driving gloves?!  No one, thats who.

So my Loves, there you have it.  My vision of a winter wedding.  truly, MKR

10 Last Minute Valentines

With Valentine’s Day upon us I’m sure there are more than a few of you still scrambling for the perfect gift.  Luckily, I’ve come up with ten ideas that while will require a little bit of work, I’m sure you can pull them off in 24 hours or less.  Happy Saint Valentines Day Loves.  truly, MKR.

1…Kiss Confetti.  Surprise your love in the morning with a trail of kiss confetti leading to at least a card.  Preferably breakfast, a card, and flowers.

2…Cherub’s Cup Cocktail.  The perfect pre or post dinner cocktail.

3…Valentine’s Day Donuts.  Combine with number 1 and you’re on your way to a fantastic Valentine’s Day start.  And I’m sure your co-workers would also adore these.

4…Heart Shaped Linzer Cookies.  Friends, family, co-workers, kids, everyone loves cookies.

5…Flowers.  No brainer.  But try and get away from the typical red rose.  Think peonies, tulips, orchids, etc., etc. (Image).

6….A hand written love note.  My top suggestions HERE.

7…Tollhouse Pie.  There are no words to describe the amazingness of this pie.  No words.

8...A kissing camel obviously.  Though it’s too late to deliver this Valentine in person, make the purchase, print out the pic and let her or him know their very own is on it’s way.

9…Run to kate spade new york and make sure she knows she has your heart on a string.  Or rather a pink and gold chain.

10…Hop on a plane.  Whether it be for a night, a long weekend or to the streets of Italy, plan a little getaway for just you two (Image).

11…If all else fails try THIS.
