It’s Fall Y’all

Okay, so I know it’s not officially fall yet, but really in my mind it is.  I’ve already had my first PSL (pumpkin spice latte) of the season, I created and styled a Halloween photoshoot last week, I’m burning a brand spanking new heirloom pumpkin candle as we speak (type), and fall arrivals have begun to make their way into The Shop.  And if that wasn’t enough this little gem of a video (above) arrived in my inbox last night.

If you follow along on Instagram you probably saw all the bts (behind the scenes) pics during a “Harvest Dinner” themed shoot I created for Occasions Magazine a few months back.  Well that baby is about to hit the stands which means I get to begin sharing everything will all of you Loves now!  So I’m calling it, declaring it right here…in my world fall is officially upon us.  (Yes I know there’s still pictures of a women frolicking in a caftan on the beach on The Shop site…I’m working on it people).  Anyway, to kick it all off I thought I’d share this behind the scenes video of the shoot.  A 10 hour shoot in the blazing sun (blazing sun…I jumped in the pool to cool off mid day) up at the gorgeous Inn of Serenbe.  Keep in mind, this is strictly behind the scenes…just a taste if you will.  Something to get you in that cooler weather state of mind.

Speaking of cooler weather…next week I’ll be talking my fall fashion must haves (perfectly timed with NYFW) and then I’ll officially be sharing all of this shoot’s stunning pics, where to buy, cocktail recipes, etc. with you on the 23rd, when the calendar actually reads fall.  In the meantime, enjoy the smooth sounds of Van Morrison and my open love letter to the season.  Happy weekend!  truly, MKR

P.S. it takes an army to pull off shoots like this…big, big hugs to Rustic White Photography, Imagine Video Production, Blue Eyed Yonder, Gertie Mae’s Florals, Anne Kathleen Cakes, Ross Sveback, Ashley Buzzy McHugh, Boxwoods, Bloomingdales, Occasions Magazine, Serenbe, Brielle Brenner, MichelleMcCoy, Clare, Richard, my dearest Mother, and the Mr.

Fall Transition With Pottery Barn

Fall is in the air, Waiting On Martha Fall Transition, Waiting On MarthaExtra Large Matches, Waiting On Martha

With a chill in the evening air and the leaves turning here in Atlanta I can finally begin to truly celebrate and transition properly into my favorite season, fall.  So what does a fall transition look like in my world?  It looks like a trip to the pumpkin patch, added layers of texture and warm toned accents in my home, pumpkin spice lattes, cozy knit blankets, mulled wine, autumn spiced candles, and It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown on repeat just to name a few.  But why just talk about what it looks like when I can show you what it looks like?

Starting today I’ll be taking over Pottery Barn’s Instagram to share just how much I love fall.  Pottery Barn is one of my go-to places for decor all year round, but they really knock it out of the park this time of year.  I’ve already picked up a few new fall accents like their gilded leaf platter pictured above and can’t wait to share what other gems will be joining the party.  I hope you’ll follow along, and I’d love to hear what are you most looking forward to this fall?  TGIF Loves!    Truly, MKR

Farrow & Ball’s Inchyra Blue

A Moody, Aged Blue Grey Inspires My Living Room Mood Board
Filed Under > Ideas & Inspiration

Farrow & Ball paint and design inspiration board via Waiting on Martha Farrow & Ball's Inchyra Blue via Waiting on MarthaFarrow & Ball Inchyra Blue design board by Mandy Kellogg Rye Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue

I once joked about having the urge to decorate and redecorate my home a dozen times.  Well friends, I’ve got the itch again…and my living room is next up.  My recent desire to revamp all started with a fabric swatch (like it so often does), and a beautiful shade of paint, and the rest is history for my living room mood board.

That fabric swatch that got the ball rolling will be used to recover our sectional sofa.  Its bold, yet completely neutral print masterfully pulls in taupes, tans, beige, browns, and of course my signature blue.  I already can see the pattern play with throw pillows galore!  My heart literally skips a beat just thinking about it.

With so many neutrals, though, I knew I wanted to bring in a pop of color rather than stick to anything too deep like a charcoal or brown. The second I saw Farrow & Ball‘s Inchyra Blue (No. 289) I knew it was a match made in heaven.  The perfect shade of blue to balance and bring together the room. I’ve never shied away from bold, moody colors (check out my master bedroom here and here), which made Inchyra Blue right up my alley.  It’s a moody, aged blue-grey that truly takes on a chameleon quality dependent on the light. It can read as a grey, blue or even green, and there’s something incredibly soothing, yet sophisticated, about the shade.  As I curated my living room mood board, I envisioned the color to be complimented by similarly aged, rich tones and a collection of found accents like my vintage calligraphy brushes along with a few new objets that always inspire.

It’s undeniable the power that a shade of paint has in a room’s design, and I so look forward to seeing it transform my living room. I’ve swooned over Farrow & Ball‘s shades before (I still have a soft spot for their limited edition Chappell Green which is why it was my color for our limited edition Oomph collaboration), and I’ve come to expect the highest of quality with their paint line. And because I feel like everyone can use a little transformation from time to time I’ve teamed up with our friends at Farrow & Ball to help you transform a room of your choice right along with me!  Because isn’t everything better when done with a friend!?  Farrow & Ball will be providing one lucky winner the paint of their choice, to change up the room of their choice.  Contest details are below, but I’d love to know if you won, what room would you re-do and what color would you choose?  Truly, MKR

P.S.  I’ll be sharing my mood board all over Pinterest, Instagram and our other social channels and would love for you to join in on the fun by sharing your own room-makeover mood board!  Simply tag @waitingonmartha and @farrowandball plus hashtag #myfavouritenewcolour and we’ll make share to check it out and even re-share some of our favorites!
