There’s something so sexy about a simple White T Shirt. Whether worn alone, paired with a blazer, dressed up with heels or down with sneakers, a great white tee will never go out of style.
I’ve had a recent fascination with all things Parisian (yep, I read this book and am now reading this memoir). I’ve started thinking a lot about owning wardrobe essentials that I imagine Parisian women do. About having a personal style that evokes confidence and femininity, even on a run to the grocery store. About wearing items that are classic and comfortable, but never boring. And a perfect White T Shirt is definitely one of those items.
Like so many others, I have been on the hunt for the best white t shirts for years, and have owned several favorites by Everlane, James Perse, J Brand,J.Crew and Kit and Ace. While I’m not one to drop big bucks on designer pieces often, I do believe it’s worth it to so splurge on a wardrobe essential like this if you find the perfect one and plan to keep it around for awhile. But with great versions starting as low as $15, our picks for the best White T Shirts can fit in any budget.
Check out five of my favorite looks in the slideshow above, along with links to snag yourself. Have you found your ultimate White T Shirt yet? Cheers, Kat

The number one question I get on Instagram, like get asked at least once a day, is “what’s your makeup routine?” And most specifically what eyeshadow do I wear. This question always makes me laugh, not because it’s a bad question at all, but because I have a VERY low key makeup routine. In fact, my routine is one that I could do with my eyes closed in less than ten minutes. And it’s a routine that NEVER really changes.
Eventually, I’m going to just bite the bullet and do an Instagram video for it, but I thought I’d share it here as well. Before I get too deep into the specifics let me first say this, especially if you’re new around here. I have worked hard over the years to de-toxify anything and everything I put on my face and my body. The body is our biggest organ, and there are VERY few restrictions here in the US concerning the garbage they can put into our beauty products so I urge you to do some research and begin making the switch. If you want to read more about what spurred that journey and the general steps I’ve taken check out this post. And no I am not 100% green or non-toxic, but I’m super close. I’d say I’m at about a 92% and hope to be at 100% very soon.
Now on to the details. I’ve broken it down below, but I will say one of the best things you can do for your beauty routine and wardrobe routine is get a color analysis done. What I mean by that is there are color experts that will do a few simple tests to help you understand what tones look right on you and which ones don’t. For me, even though I’m super pale skinned, cool tones work best with my complexion. So if I want to go with a pink or a red, it needs to have those underlying blue tones rather than orange tones. Understanding this changed how I dress and what makeup colors I choose. You can take these quizzes or test online, but I did mine in person where the expert actually holds up colors to you and you can see your skin tone actually change so if you can do it in person, definitely go that route.
Another thing to note is it took me a LONG time to understand what works on my very sensitive and fickle skin that has been the bane of my existence since the dawn of time. Dramatic, yes a bit, but I have serious envy for people with perfect complexions. That’s not me, nor will it ever be me, but I have figured out what to use that doesn’t cause a flare up. I’m saying this because it’s a journey and what works for me won’t necessarily work for you. So test the waters and play around, but once you find what works hold on to that shade or brand for dear life!
Lastly, get some good makeup brushes and take the time cleaning them! I used to be so lazy about cleaning my brushes, but I found cleaning them weekly helps keep my skin clear. My go-to brushes are actually from Young Living as well as the Thieves Foaming Hand Soap I use to clean them with. Yes, that essential oils company has an amazing non-toxic makeup line now and it’s pretty great (read more about that HERE). The other thing I would 100% say get is this little rubber mat-thiny that you suction to your sink and clean your brushes with. Game changer!
And that’s it. I hope the step by step below helps, and I hope this finally answers all those DM’s I haven’t gotten around to answering! Truly, MKR
Step One: Beauty Counter One Touch Concealer under my eyes. I show my tiredness and age under my eyes, so this has been a game changer and one of the most important tools in my arsenal. Make sure you go at least 1 shade lighter than your skin as you want this to actually brighten.
Step Two & Three:Bare Minerals Foundation & Bronzer. I’ve been using Mineral Makeup for over a decade now and it just works for me. I put the foundation all over my face and a bit on my neck, followed by the bronzer. I then take a q-tip and go through my eyebrows and hairline removing makeup that got into those places.
Step Four: Eye Shadow. I first start with a liquid eye shadow in this shade and rub slightly over my eye lid. I’ve found that starting with a liquid eyeshadow allows my powder eyeshadow to stay put all day. Then I mix a few different colors from this large Beauty Counter Pallete. I start with Espresso mixed with a bit or bordeaux and maybe a bit of Canyon if I feel it’s coming off to brown. I brush this all over my eye lid. Followed by this lighter brown in my crease to blend the two a bit. If it’s an eyeliner day I actually just use my eyeliner brush and blend the black and the bordeaux for an eyeliner. Then I take one small swipe of the gilded and go over my entire lid to give it a bit of shimmer. And finish it off with Eggshell in the very crease of my eyebrow, where I want my eyebrow to point up, right in the center. And then a bit in the corner of my eyes. Eggshell really helps to brighten it up. Beauty Counter has switched up their shadows since I took this pic so now I use this pallet and this one and have MORE than enough colors for what I need to do.
Step Five: Because I guarantee a ton of eyeshadow has now fallen below my eyes I take my foundation brush and wipe it off under my eye. I then layer another layer of the One Touch Concealer. Patting, not rubbing the One Touch Concealer in.
Step Eight:YSL Tropical Pink Lipstick. This is my signature pink, and one I cannot find a different version of. I love this color so much, like so much! And then I top it all off with my favorite lip gloss in Opal Moonstone and voila, I’m done! Pretty easy right?!?
Here’s another idea to “refresh” this month; nothing drastic, but one that’ll hopefully inspire a few better habits to stick. I’m sharing ten easy ways to go green around the house, and I think you’ll find that they’re all totally doable and reasonable. A lot of times, we get so stuck in our ways that we don’t even realize small, subtle changes that can do us better in the long-run (and save us money!!).
Below, check out a few of the goals I’m setting for myself in the new year. They include easy things like switching out the chemical-laden cleaning products, swapping paper towels for dish towels, as well as introducing green alternatives to my personal care routine like all natural toothpaste, oil-pulling and smudge sticks. See? Nothing too crazy or life-changing, but all helpful ways to go green around the house. But I’d love to add some more to this list; comment below with your favorite way to go green(er). Cheers! Kat
My household is guilty of going through a few rolls of paper towels per month. In 2017, I’m introducing wash rags and dish cloths to our countertops instead. For even the smallest of spills, instead of using an entire paper towel, we’ll be using these dish cloths that we can then later throw in the wash. Easy-breezy.
Instead of using wasteful plastic water bottles (full of BPA too!), opt for reusable water bottles you can refill throughout the day.
We’re big fans of these copper water bottles because they have countless health benefits (and they look pretty cool). Copper water helps you maintain good digestive health, killing bacteria and washing the gastrointestinal tract. It flushes kidneys, stimulates digestive process and overall reduces fat. Convinced yet?!
Harsh synthetics and toxic chemicals can be found in your tried-and-true personal care items like hand soap, mouthwash, toothpaste, deodorant and more. To give your personal care routine a green overhaul, consider gentle, safer hand soaps (like Thieves), oil pulling packets (your teeth, gums and breath will thank you!) and nontoxic toothpaste (again, Thieves for the win!).
Say no to the disposable dryer sheets that are laden with chemicals and synthetics. Instead, use reusable wool dryer balls to soften fabrics the natural way. The not only shorten drying time and save energy, they are better for sensitive skin and are completely eco-friendly.
I know I’m guilty of stashing plastic and paper grocery bags in a random cabinet in my kitchen…either to pile up or be thrown away later. Instead of doing this, use a cloth or canvas grocery tote! These are reusable and perhaps even easier to deal with than the disposable alternatives. A lot of places will give you a discount when using them, too. Win-win.
Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL) use 10x less energy than normal incandescent bulbs! It’s time to switch yours out for these ones, and rest assured that they’ll last a whole lot longer (read: you won’t have to replace them as often!).
Did you know that dishwashing generally takes 27 gallons of water, compared with the four gallons in the dishwasher to wash the same number of dishes?! So next time you think you’re doing better by hand washing, put that stuff in the dishwasher!
Another scary fact about water waste: about five gallons of water are wasted when you brush your teeth with the water on! Turn the water OFF while you brush.
Air fresheners’ packaging causes waste, and there are better ways to purify and freshen the air. A lot of big-box brand air fresheners contain harmful chemicals that actually only mask the odor, rather than neutralize or clear the air.
A good alternative when you need to freshen up and clear the air? Diffusing essential oils like Thieves, Lemon and Purification, using smudge sticks to purify the air and having plants to naturally detox the space (and get rid of that formaldehyde lingering around!).
This will be an easy adjustment when you start using your dish towels like I mentioned above. Using cloth napkins (chic French stripe ones if we’re getting specific) at mealtime instead of paper towels or paper napkins is a game-changer in terms of waste (not to mention, they look so much better!).
Switch to Chemical-Free Detergents & Cleaning Solutions
Go green around the house with safe, clean products that don’t include harsh chemicals and ingredients. Start with any products from the Thieves line; they truly are wonder products that go so far (the cleaner is highly concentrated and can be used for countless DIY recipes) It’s time to swap out the laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner, bathroom cleaner and more.
More on this tomorrow!
