{MUST Shop} ML Pearl Designs & A Giveaway

I couldn’t very well do a Waiting On Martha Wedding Week without talking about jewels.  And what better jewels for the bride, bridesmaids, mother of the bride, basically you’re entire wedding party, than pearls?  Some of my favorite, and oh so reasonably priced pearls come from ML Pearl Designs.

ML Pearl Designs was dreamed up by Angela Martin-Moushon and Veronica Jensen-Libke who wanted to present a collection of pearls and semi-precious stone jewelry after falling in love with the pearl markets in Shanghai, China.  With an idea of offering real pearl designs at a fraction of the cost to friends and family, the positive response was so overwhelming ML Pearl Designs has now grown into a full blown business.  The beauty of it all is even with all of their success they’ve still been able to maintain their original goal of offering stunning, one of a kind pieces at a fraction of the retail price.

You can find ML Pearl Designs on the web or in many high end boutiques in the Denver, Chicago and Peoria area.  But the most fun is having ML Pearl Designs host a Pearl Party for you and your nearest and dearest.  Friends, wine, cheese, and pearls sounds like perfection to me!

So here are my personal favs, and did I mention we’re giving one of these gems away?  Keep reading for all the details!  xoxo

ML Pearl Design‘s Long Strands

So here’s the deal…since it is wedding week I wanted to gift one very lucky reader with something fabulous from ML Pearl Designs that could easily be worn to the wedding or everyday.  So without further ado we’re thrilled to be giving away, probably my favorite design…the 4 strand Pearl and chain bracelet.  You know I have a soft spot for bracelets and I’m particularly obsessed with this bauble because it’s classic, but with a very modern and chic feel.  I wear mine with jeans and a tee or all dressed up with my LBD (little black dress).  So check out the pics below (try not to drool) and see how you can get your hands on this fabulous piece of arm candy.  xoxo

The Brand Market Workshop Atlanta

Back in November you may recall I had the great pleasure of speaking at my gal pal Anna’s (In Honor of Design) The Brand Market Workshop.  While I’d gladly join Anna in practically any endeavor she’s undertaking I was especially fired up (nod to my cheerleading days) to speak about branding.  At the core of everything and every arm of Martha is our brand and it’s message, “creating a beautiful everyday.”  So to be able to talk passionately about branding to other creatives was right in my wheel house.  Not to mention it was the first Brand Market Workshop and there’s something about the first of anything.  Though at the time it’s always stressful because you don’t know what lies ahead and what bumps you’ll incur, but that’s the fun of it.  You eventually look back and laugh and reminisce at the “remember this time” and the “we had no idea what we were getting into” memories.  Life is all about learning right?

Anyway, I’m getting off track…back to the workshop.  In Anna’s own words, ” The Brand Market was born out of a passion and desire to enable creative entrepreneurs to make their big dreams an achievable reality.  Each workshop is taught by a series of creatives with expertise in their field and focuses on making your brand and site stand out by diving into the essentials of branding, marketing, and photography styling skills.”  And since Atlanta was a huge success, and such an amazing experience it’s happening again!  So get ready Atlanta, March 15th we’re coming for you and registration is now officially open.  And if you’re not in Atlanta no worries, Anna’s taking the show on the road and will be headed to Raleigh and NYC this spring/summer.  Will I be seeing you in March?   TGIF Loves!  truly, MKR

P.S.  Seats are limited so hurry and sign up now!

Shopping With Intention: 5 Ways to Say No to Fast Fashion

Being Mindful with Purchases That Last

How can I shop mindfully to establish a wardrobe I’m proud of, and resist the undeniable pull of Fast Fashion in the digital space?

As an editor of a lifestyle website and an almost-27-year-old, I’m eager to define my own style. But I want to do so in a meaningful way (and on a realistic budget). But since I see a lot of fashion, a lot of sales, and a lot of “must-haves” every day, I’m finding just how much “Fast Fashion” can get in the way.

“Fast Fashion” refers to the transient pieces from retailers like H&M, Forever 21 and Zara that are completely upturning the fashion industry and pumping out trendy, designer knock-off collections faster than consumers can buy them. This quickening pace of the industry isn’t necessarily a good thing; instead it threatens to hurt job markets and encourages a “more, more, more” attitude among consumers.
