I’ve always been a fan of a great at-home bar. I strongly believe it’s a must-learn life skill to mix up classic cocktails, and as an avid host, it’s important to provide an array...
Looking back on Easter as a child, I remember how excited I was to dig through my Easter basket. Full of chocolate bunnies, malt ball Easter eggs, Peeps, golden coins, and my favorite Cadbury...

When throwing our annual Holiday party, the Mr. only has one request. White Russians. Or rather a Caucasian as he and all his cronies (I’m talking to you Gaines) call it because they’re obsessed with The Big Lebowski. But when I received a little package from Smirnoff containing their newest gem, Cinna-Sugar TwistVodka, I decided to kick the standard up a notch and created a Sugar n’ Spice White Russian. A combination of sugary spice and cinnamon which reminds me of all things wintery and warm.
Though our Sugar n’ Spice White Russian is sure to be a hit with the ladies it might be a tad on the sweet side for the gents. My suggestion is to set up a White Russian DIY Station. Display the necessary ingredients on the bar (or even on a side table close to the bar) and let your guest decide how sweet they want their Russian. Cheers Loves! truly, MKR
DIY White Russian Station:
Vodka
Cinnamon & Sugar Smirnoff Vodka
Kahlua
1/2 and 1/2
Ice
Cinnamon Sticks or Cinnamon Spice
Spoons or Stir Sticks
Straws
Rocks Glasses (I used our Dwell Studio malachite ones above)

*These candelabras are show stopping & perfect for any occasion
*A mix of vases in different heights, textures, & patterns gives our table an eclectic vibe
*Sangria is the perfect cocktail for large groups & summer nights (recipe coming Friday)
*Ditch traditional salsas for whats is in season like our peach, mango & heirloom tomato
*Don’t be afraid of color, the red provides the “pop” this table needed
*A vase anything that holds water including an actual water pitcher
*Take queso to the next level with jalepeno, green onion, cilantro, & radish garnish
*Homemade tortilla chips are worth the extra work I promise!
There’s nothing I enjoy more than summer nights dining al fresco with my nearest and dearest. So when Pacific Foods asked if I’d like to team up for a little easy entertaining I gathered friends and set the table with a Mexican inspired meal.
Homemade chips, queso, spicy watermelon salad and a trio of salsas highlighting summer’s freshest flavors (peach, mango, heirloom tomato) set the stage for a build your own taco bar. A build your own taco and/or nacho bar is not only the definition of easy entertaining, but it’s always a crowd pleaser. Simply grill a protein or two, set out all of your fresh favorites (tortillas, beans, cheese, guacamole, salasa, queso, tomatoes, onions, jalepenos, etc.), and let your guests create their favorite combinations. And because Pacific Foods has great organic options such as refried black beans and queso all I needed to do was add a few extra flavors before serving.
I’m sharing my salsa con queso and homemade tortilla chips recipe below, (trust me take the time and make your own homemade tortilla chips I promise it will be worth it), and later this week I’ll show you how to create the perfect red sangria and spicy watermelon salad. Everything you need for easy summer entertaining because after the winter we all had I’m trying to squeeze every ounce out of summer I can! Cheers! truly, MKR
Week three of the One Room Challenge had me focusing on the upstairs bar, obviously. While impossible to say that the bar has just one show-stopper, it’s hard to argue that the beauty and grandiosity of the Paul Marrot Feathers doesn’t steal the show. Mounted on linen and framed in thick lucite, Feathers is sure to spark a conversation or two over cocktails.
Then there’s the natural agate lamp from Times Two Design. This stunner adds just the right amount of femininity while it’s also the perfect size. Since the room already had lots of color aspects (not all pictured here), I chose the white agate, but the turquoise and emerald agate are jaw-dropping as well.
And of course, how could I forget about the grey python table from Society Social, a constant go-to of mine. The python creates great interest and adds texture to the room, while its stone coloring is the perfect neutral. I’ve put the table in my home, my parent’s home, and I’m currently adding two of the tables to a client’s home. We’re halfway through the One Room Challenge and I’m loving how the loft is coming together thus far. What is your favorite element? TRULY, MKR
