How to Find the Perfect Pink Lipstick for You

Tips on Finally Finding Your Signature Shade

If you’re a regular here on WOM, you’ll know that I can’t leave my house without my signature pink lip.  I’ve been wearing YSL ‘Rouge Pur Couture’ in Tropical Pink (49) for years after discovering its perfect bubbly pink hue.

A signature lip color is something I strongly believe every woman should know about herself.  Discovering that signature shade all starts with knowing your skin color/tone.  Do you have warm, cool or neutral tones?  Having my “colors” analyzed a few years ago was game changing for me and something I think about constantly whenever picking our clothes and makeup.  By assessing your skin’s color and tone, you’ll be on your way to finding a lip color that will always be your finishing touch to a polished look, as well as a major confidence boost.

The best way to find the perfect pink lipstick is to test out a lot of them.  Finding your signature color takes time; think of it like dating.  Consider setting up an appointment with a beauty professional at a makeup counter, or do it on your own with less expensive options from the drugstore.  This way, you’ll try a handful of textures and tones to find the perfect one.

If you have a warm skin tone, you’ll want to find a pink lipstick that has more rosy, coral and orange warm undertones.  On the other hand, if you have a cool skin tone (like me), stick to pink lipsticks that have more blues and purples in them. If you’re still not sure about your skin tone, here are a few easy hacks to figure it out

The next thing to consider is the texture and finish you’re hoping to achieve: do you want a high-gloss or matte look?  I personally prefer high-gloss because matte makes my lips feel too dry.  Don’t get me wrong, matte is beautiful, but it’s just not for me.  Since I like a glossy finish, I’ve started to use NARS lip gloss (that has just a hint of pink) on top of my YSL Tropical Pink

Once you do find your signature pink lipstick, stock up!  They always seem to discontinue my favorites, and I’ve learned my lesson the hard way.  Tell me friends, have you found your perfect pink lipstick?!  Truly, MKR

Sweet Corn & Prosciutto Naan Flatbread Pizza

Crispy, Melty Personal Pizzas for a dinner al fresco
Filed Under > 30 Minute Meals

Summer Corn Grilled Naan Flatbread Pizza, recipe @waitingonmartha

I’ve said it before and I’ll stay it again, pizza never tastes as good as it does than when its grilled and/or smoked over an open fire. Or in my case on a Big Green Egg.  This rings true for ANY and ALL kinds of pizza; that grill/smokey flavor just adds a much-obsessed depth that makes every other pizza pale in comparison.  And while I love homemade pizza night, sometimes I just don’t have the time, or energy, to build the dough from scratch.  That’s when my favorite dough substitution Naan comes to the rescue for Naan flatbread pizza.

Naan flatbread has been my go-to for a while; remember this recipe?  And it’s one I’m constantly experimenting with.  That’s the beauty of a Naan flatbread pizza; its size makes the perfect mini, or personal pizzas, so you can test out various combos till you find a winner.  And find a winner, I did.  Highlighting my favorite vegetable, sweet summer corn, this Naan flatbread pizza has an olive oil and mozzarella base, with prosciutto for the carnivores, and it’s all topped with cool green onions and celery.  Yes, celery!!  I know it sounds a little crazy, but I promise you will savor every single bite!  Not to mention, this recipe from start to finish takes only 20 minutes!!  Now that’s a weeknight dinner I can get behind.  Truly, MKR

Sweet Corn, Mozzarella & Prosciutto Naan Pizza
Write a review
Print
Ingredients
  1. package of naan bread
  2. fresh mozzarella slices, cut 1/4 inch thick (you'll use 3-4 slices per pizza)
  3. package of fresh prosciutto, roughly torn pieces
  4. 1 green onion, cut into long shavings
  5. 1 celery stalk, cut into long shavings
  6. 2 ears of corn on the cob, shaved to kernels
  7. red pepper flakes, to taste
  8. olive oil
  9. salt & pepper
Instructions
  1. Use a pastry brush to brush your pieces of naan bread with olive oil.
  2. Sprinkle each pizza with salt and pepper.
  3. Lay down 1/4 inch mozzarella slices (you'll use 3-4 slices per pizza).
  4. Put prosciutto shavings onto pizzas.
  5. Sprinkle shaved corn (do not cook beforehand, it will be shaved right off the cob).
  6. Add your red pepper flakes (you can also do this later, based on your preference).
  7. Grill pizzas until cheese melts (about 5-7 minutes). Don't walk away from them while they're grilling because naan cooks quickly, and you don't want the pizzas to burn.
  8. After grilling, sprinkle green onion and celery shavings on top to serve.
Notes
  1. I've been through a lot of pastry brushes in my life, but my favorite one is the rubber bristle brush. Paint brushes will lose some hairs in food sometimes, they don't wash up well.

Sleep.  It sounds like a no brainer, but sleep really is the best way to fight eye fatigue.  Being a light sleeper I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for getting a few more z’s, they go something like this: silk pillow case, eye mask and most importantly my essential oils diffusing through the night.  Oh and no electronics at least 30 minutes before bed always makes shut eye come a lot easier.

P.S. Learn all about our love of essential oils and how they changed our routines for the better HERE.

One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm

A good eye balm or cream is key to fighting the signs of eye aging, and trust me when I say I’ve tried them all.  From the $200+ jars to the $5 drugstore buys and after years of searching I’ve finally settled on One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm.  A powerful blend of Vitamin E, Organic Shea Butter, Pomegranate, and Sea Kelp make this balm my absolute favorite!  Not to mention is wallet friendly and will last you at least 6 months if not more…that’s how little you need to use! Plus 100% of it’s ingredients are from a natural source, no chemicals for us please!  Pair it with Morning Glory Caffeinated Serum and I promise you’ll see a dramatic difference!

Eye Mask

SK-II, $115

I’ve tried MANY eye masks, both expensive and inexpensive, but I still keep coming back to my tried-and-true favorite SK-II. This is the best eye mask for dark circles and under-eye bags, hands down.  Everything SK-II is remarkable and yes, it’s a pretty penny, but if you do want to splurge, I’d suggest going this route.

Touch Eclat

Yves Saint Laurent, $42

I’ve worn this illuminator (in its lightest shade, #1) for years; it’s the final step in erasing under my eye circles and dark spots.  When buying, be sure to one color lighter than you would normally go; you need this to illuminate as well as blend.  While this has always been my go-to for years, I admit I recently tried beautycounter’s similar Touchup Skin Concealer Pen (and it may give YSL a run for its money!).

All About Eyes De-Puffing Eye Roller

Clinique, $30

Talk about a tried and true product, I’ve been using this for at least 6 years now, and I can’t imagine my morning routine without it.  Roll this on before your moisturizer, serums, oils and/or eye creams to help specifically with the puffiness.
