Friday’s Musts, Lusts & Loves

Happy Friday Loves!  Unlike my usual Musts, Lusts and Loves this week it’s all about ONE thing.  What do you wonder could possibly satisfy all 3 categories?  Not what, but rather who.  Thomas Keller.  (If you don’t know who Thomas Keller is then just stop reading and go about your day, if you do then by all means read on).

Last year the Mr. and I spent a week in heaven (otherwise known as Yountville) where we gorged ourselves on food and wine (lots of wine).  Though I obviously knew of Thomas Keller I hadn’t had the pleasure of eating at any of his restaurants.  And then like a kid in a candy store in 1 week we dined at Ad Hoc, Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery, and the crazy-amazing The French Laundry.  We even spent time in The French Laundry Kitchen…beyond amaze.  So when I heard he was coming to Atlanta for a signing of his latest book…well done and done.  And it’s not just a signing, it’s also a tasting of sweet treats at Aria.

Below are all of the deets, and I imagine there are other stops on his tour so check it out and see if he’s coming to your city.  And if you’re in Atlanta I’ll see you there.  Happy weekend loves.  xoxo

{Obsessed} Hurom Slow Juicer

Recently I took the plunge and purchased a juicer, the Hurom Slow Juicer to be exact.  And I am OBSESSED.  I know I use this word a lot so it’s probably lost it’s meaning on some of you, but this is obsession, pure obsession.

So here’s the deal, I have a Vitamix which I adore, but I wanted a juicer and one that could make wheat grass shots.  Side note…for those of you who haven’t tried wheat grass in my opinion it’s life changing.  True it tastes horrible, like grass clippings, but the health benefits make the I-just-licked-the-lawn taste worth it.  Anyway, most juicers don’t do wheat grass which is how I found the Hurom Slow Juicer.   Recently named the Best New Kitchen Appliance the Hurom Slow Juicer uses a no blade,  low-speed system which juices everything from fruit and vegetables to nuts and soybeans.  The “slow” part of it is supposed to process the food to release deep-seated nutrients and enzymes, and break up more of the phytonutrients for a richer-colored juice that retains more vitamins and minerals.  Blah, blah, blah it’s amazing.  I’m actually sucking down a watermelon, cucumber, wheat grass, kale, spinach, carrot, strawberry, blueberry, and ginger juice as we speak.

Next up I’m going to make some homemade Bloody Mary mix and preserve it before tomatoes go out of season…I mean nutrient rich tomatoes mixed with vodka sounds like a fall/football season MUST to me.  And P.S. it’s on major sale right now HERE!   xoxo

A Week on the Amalfi Coast

Photographer Kathryn McCrary Shares Scenes from Her Idyllic Vacation to the Vibrant Towns Along Italy's Prized Coast

A few months ago, our photographer friend Kathryn McCrary and her husband jetted to Italy, after dreaming about the Amalfi Coast for over three years. After receiving an unexpected flight voucher, the two decided to take the trip of their dreams to celebrate six years of marriage. (Swoon!)

While we followed along on Instagram, Kathryn and her husband toured Rome, hopped on the train to Salerno, and ferried into Positano to spend five dreamlike days enjoying the best bites and sites the charming coastal town had to offer.  Add a day-trip to Capri and sunset-hike along The Path of Gods, and the couple couldn’t have had more of a magical time.

“We knew we wanted one last taste of summer, and the beaches of Positano were the perfect location to celebrate and relax,” said Kathryn. “My favorite memory, however, was the boat ride back to Positano from our day trip to Capri. We were all drinking wine and the boat driver stopped to let everyone take a swim. The water was chilly, but jumping off the front of the boat into the deep and salty Mediterranean Sea was one of the most freeing feelings of my life.”

If our wanderlust was strong before, it was even more so after seeing Kathryn’s sweet scenes from her week along The Amalfi Coast! I then of course asked her the question we all were dying to know: what was your favorite thing you ate?!

“All of the food we ate was great (especially the gelato!), but my absolute favorite spot we went to was Franco’s Bar.  It is the new hip bar of the ultra luxurious hotel, Le Sirenuse.  The view at sunset was amazing and the atmosphere was unreal.”

P.S. We asked Kathryn if she’d change anything about the trip if she did it again. Her answer? Probably extend the trip by a few more days and stay two nights in Capri or possibly Amalfi. xo
