DIY Decorative Fabric Tray

Months ago I had seen these fabulous DIY Decorative Trays crafted by the queen bee herself Martha Stewart, but was hesitant to take on this project fearing the end result would look less than chic.  I’m happy to report that I finally got my craft on and in less than 15 minutes I have an amazing new decorative tray where an old burnt baking pan used to be!  I took a few liberties with the original “How To’s” because quite frankly I didn’t have any felt lying around the abode, and I really don’t think you need it.  So without further ado I’m happy to say our “Do of the Week” is from yours truly (with a little help from Martha of course).  Enjoy!  xoxo

Fabric TrayMy finished product!

The Inspiration Courtesy of Martha Stewart

What You’ll Need

  1. Baking pan, cookie sheet, tray of some sort (I used an old burnt metal backing pan)
  2. 1 yard (or the appropriate size of your tray) of decorative fabric
  3. Scissors
  4. Tacky Spray Adhesive (I used Allenes Crystal Clear Acid Free Tacky Spray)
  5. Optional acrylic sheet cut to fit inside tray

The DIY

  1. Cut fabric the front and wrap around the back of the tray. Cover the front of the tray with spray adhesive.
  2. Place fabric on tray, leaving enough room to wrap fabric around all sides to the back. Smooth fabric onto tray, pressing out any bubbles.  Be careful and take your time, once it’s on removing it an re-sticking it is VERY difficult!
  3. Pull any extra material into corner and push around the edge (very much like wrapping a gift).
  4. Turn tray over. Cover each side one at a time with spray adhesive and press the fabric over the four  edges.  Trim any excess fabric with scissors. Use additional adhesive spray if needed.
    6. If desired place acrylic sheet in center of tray.
If you are using an acrylic sheet it would be extra amazing to cut out your monogram and secure it to the fabric in the center of the tray before securing the acrylic over the top.

Not too shabby for my first time!

I’ll be utilizing mine at my bar or to hold my baubles!

White Out

When Old Navy asked me to share my summer whites I was a tad on the hesitant side.  Don’t get me wrong I love, love, love, white.  However white, especially white jeans, aren’t always the most flattering unless you’re a size zero…and I’m no size zero.  But I had been wanting to try white boyfriend jeans for awhile now so I thought this may be the perfect opportunity and crossed my fingers that it wouldn’t be the worst outfit I’ve ever worn.

To my surprise and delight Old Navy’s distressed boyfriends (on sale now for $12.99!!!!) didn’t have me running for the hills in terror, but rather I’ve fallen in love with their fit and ease of wear.  I paired my new favorite jeans with a light button down, white Jacks, Red’s Newell sunnies I stole from the Mr., my signature stack of bracelets, a white and gold manicure (post about that coming soon), and a blackberry King of Pops popsicle.  A look that is completely me, and completely one I’ll be wearing all summer long.  So thank you Old Navy for making a white jean I actually feel good in.  truly, MKR

I love pajamas.  Love them.  In fact, on the rare Saturday where I have little or nothing to do you won’t see me out of my pajamas till well into the afternoon.  There’s just something so lovely about sleeping and waking (and lounging all day) in a beautiful pair of pajamas.  And you won’t find pajamas any more beautiful than Plum Pretty Sugar pajamas.

Inspired by the idea of breezy happiness against a backdrop of easy living chic, Charlotte Hale founded Plum Pretty Sugar in 2009.  Charlotte sought to bring cozy comfort, feminine details, and blushing touches to apparel, adornment and interiors.  I would say Charlotte has succeeded.

I’ve been living (like living) in their robe, romper, and lounge pants and this boyfriend shirt is next on my list.  Well the boyfriend shirt and entire BHLDN + PPS collection.  I mean who can choose, I love them all and I just know you will to.  In fact I’m so sure of it we’re spreading that love and giving WOM readers the chance to win a pair of Plum Pretty Sugar pajamas to call their own.  Whichever set the winner’s heart desires because as Charlotte often says, “we are awake to dream.”  Happy Monday Loves, and good luck!  truly, MKR
