Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2012

I’m a big believer and giving back.  And if that giving back happens to include amazing fashions and a fabulous party even better.  Enter Atlanta’s Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2012.  Jeffrey Kalinsky, creator of one of my personal MUST SHOP namesake boutiques in Atlanta and Manhattan, joins Event Chairs Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy and Louise Sams in producing the official kick-off to the fall social season: Fashion Cares 2012. To be held on Monday, August 27th, 2012—the event includes a reception followed by a live auction and runway show featuring Kalinsky’s style selections from high-end designers such as Lanvin, Celine, Prada, Marni, Manolo Blahnik, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin, Jason Wu and Stella McCartney.

Fashion Cares 2012 will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure—Greater Atlanta Affiliate and the Atlanta AIDS Fund (AAF). Last year’s sold-out event raised $650,000 for the two organizations, and in its history, Fashion Cares has grown into one of the largest combined AIDS and breast cancer benefits in the country.

And for Jeffrey Fashion Cares 20th anniversary they’ve pulled out all the stops announcing that Joseph Altuzarra, fashion designer and winner of the 2011 CFDA/Vogue Annual Fund and Fashion Group International Rising Star of the Year, will be featured as the special guest designer.  Altuzarra joins past notable guest designers including Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Isaac Mizrahi, and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler.

From a broad multi-cultural experience and from training with vanguard NY designers in a French couture house, Joseph Altuzarra has forged his own distinctive voice. Since its inception in 2008, Joseph’s namesake brand ALTUZARRA, which he launched at just 25-years old, has received critical acclaim and support from industry critics and consumers alike. The Paris-born designer who has worked with the likes of Marc Jacobs Studio, Proenza Schouler and even collaborated with J.Crew has quickly become known for his trademark body-conscious, flattering and feminine clothing. Earning numerous accolades for his talent, imagination and vision, Joseph was recently awarded the first prize for the coveted 2011 CFDA/Vogue Annual Fund. Additionally, he has been recognized as the Fashion Group International Rising Star of the Year, Out 100 Vanguard of the Year, received the Ecco Domani Award, and was featured in Forbes 30 Under 30.

Though the event is this coming Monday, tickets are miraculously still available HERE.  So Atlanta loves, put on your best and come celebrate fashion, raise awareness and money for two amazing causes!  xoxo

As much as you may find this hard to believe I’m actually a very un-fussy dresser.  In fact nine times out of ten I’ll pick comfort over style every time.  So when those two things combine, comfort and style, I’m as happy as a girl could possibly be.  Enter Old Navy’s summer line full of light and easy-breezy pieces in one of my favorite color combos; blue and white.  These pants, which are now on SALE, may be the most comfortable item in my wardrobe and this white gauzy top is perfect for hot Southern summers.  Dress it up as I did with heels and a clutch, or throw on your favorite flats and you’ll be ready for wherever these sunny days may lead.  truly, MKR

I always feel good in black.  It’s just one of those colors that I know I can wear and feel 100% in.  And while I’ve always known the importance of an LBD, the truth of the matter is that a lot of LBDs can’t be considered everyday staples (wah wah).

But alas, enter this easy little black everyday dress I just scored from Hampden Clothing‘s pop-up shop here in the A last week. The second I saw the classic shirt-dress with its crisp pleats, I knew it had to be mine.  It’s just SO me.  I’m a firm believer that when you find something that fits your forever style, it’s worth the investment.  It’s those pieces that you’ll end up wearing a countless different ways over years to come.  I already know I’ll be dressing this look up with heels, and down with my favorite the-leather-is-like-butter flats).

I would file today’s look as my everyday black dress with a little flare. For a statement and some stark contrast, I paired the dress with my white fringe Proenza Schouler bag (which is 25% off right now!) and my funky-fun stripe platform sandals (also on CRAZY sale right now). Truly, MKR
