Martha MUST…Ginger Jars

I’m having a major blue and white moment, (have I told you all this yet I swear I forget what I’ve shared and what I haven’t).  A major moment.  My kitchen doors and island have been painted a deep midnight navy.  I have 15 blue and white (with some green) pillows throughout the family room accompanied with that same midnight navy on the ceiling.  My foyer’s console table has a complete collection of ginger jars in all shapes and sizes (a collection the Mr. is still nervous about knocking over on the daily).  And that collection of ginger jars on the table is really what started my obsession.

While most decorating savants have been collecting all things ginger (jars, lamps, plates, etc) for years and years, there has been a huge resurgence and love for them over the past year.  And if my trip to The Mart this week (that’s where I do all my buying for The Shop) is any indication of things to come then 2014 is all about the ginger jar.  You can find ginger jars practically everywhere and range in price from high to low.   My current jar faves are from C.Wonder, Williams & Sonoma, and One Kings Lane.  And if you’re a good hunter you can still find century-old jars in antique stores, but finding one with it’s original lid intact is extremely difficult.  So tell me are ginger jars a MUST for you?  truly, MKR.

  • I got some Ginger Jars from Wisteria and love them. Estate sales are also the perfect place to pick up a few.

  • Love a classic blue and white ginger jar. I too have gone a little nuts for blue and white ceramics – tea pots, mugs, jars, vases – you name it!
