A few weeks ago the Mr. and I had the pleasure of spending a few days in Charleston with Garden & Gun Magazine.  I had heard plenty about Charleston’s picturesque streets chalked full of history, it’s great food scene, and overall Southern charm, but my imagination couldn’t even come close to actualizing just how charming Charleston would be.

We had the pleasure of calling the Belmond, Charleston Place home for a few days.   Situated in the center of Charleston’s historic district, prime shopping, open air markets and amazing restaurants Charleston Place is the epitome of convenience.  I was able to take a moment and relax in their spa and each night we found ourselves in the Thoroughbred Club sipping wine and listening to live music.  Plus the hotel is undergoing a complete renovation and the rooms are decorated to perfection, (opt for a room with a balcony, you won’t be sorry).  And during the Holiday you’ll find the lobby packed to the brim with adults and children alike to watch model the train display chug along.

We walked the streets, gawked at colorful house after house, watched sunset from the roof of the Vendue, had the best oysters I’ve ever had at Fig from a gentelman I believe to be called “Clamer Dave,” and dined for hours with friends at Husk.  All in all the trip was way too short, but the perfect way to end what turned out to be my year of travel.  Charleston you have my heart!  Truly, MKR
