Looking back on Easter as a child, I remember how excited I was to dig through my Easter basket. Full of chocolate bunnies, malt ball Easter eggs, Peeps, golden coins, and my favorite Cadbury...

Now that I’ve had a taste of the shore (and the dreamiest stay on Palmetto Bluff if you saw on Instagram and Snapchat last week), all I want to do is lounge in the breeze. #guiltyascharged
Can we all just agree that there’s nothing breezier than linen pants?! But not scratchy-sometimes-itchy linen, I’m talking second skin, light as a feather linen. And this pair from W by Worth NY, with its wide, cropped leg and striped yarn-dyed linen has all of the above qualities and more, which means quintessential summer on the water (or in the city) for me. When I saw the matching striped linen crop top, I knew it was official; I had found my go-to summer outfit.
The crinkle linen has that earthy (pajama-like) feel, allowing it to be as casual or elegant as I want it to be. I’ll be dressing the duo down during the day with my Jacks, thrown over my bathing suit, probably with an ice cream cone in hand (or wine, let’s be honest here). And when it comes time for dinner plans, I’ll throw on a pair of white jeans and these easy leather mules. Hello summer. So tell me, do you do linen during the warm weather months? Truly, MKR

If there’s ever a reason to go all out, I’d say Mother’s Day is an obvious choice. This year when prepping for the big day, I had an idea of what I wanted to pull together; a no-fuss brunch filled with all of mom’s favorites. Miniature cast iron skillet quiches, almond filled croissants, macaroons, and the ultimate fruit tart. A fresh (and super simple) salad of grilled Georgia peaches, spring snap peas, and candied pecans, plus a seasonal rhubarb and strawberry fizzy libation (recipes coming this week). And of course, plenty of cheeses and nuts to nibble on, as I know we’ll linger at the table long after official brunch hours are through.
This year, though, I knew the biggest treat of all wouldn’t be the brunch, but rather what I had waiting for her at brunch. You see my Mother is one of the most selfless, giving, generous people I know. Always caring for others before herself, often pushing her needs and wants to the side, which means Mama K does not treat herself near enough. So along with brunch and blooms, I also had a new spring wardrobe waiting for her from one of our favorites, J.McLaughlin.
J.McLaughlin is a go-to for me when I’m in need of high quality, effortless looks that I (and Mom) will wear for years to come. For Mom, I picked out a few spring shirtdresses in punched up patterns I knew she could dress up for a date night with Dad, or throw on some sandals for a more casual day look. Because Mom loves color, I also snagged her these amazing silk and linen pants in marigold (I grabbed the ivory for myself), a blue gingham button down and easy summer sweater. I, of course, couldn’t resist picking up a few things for myself like this classic and comfortable stripe dress, pom-pom shorts because obviously they have pom-poms, and my soon to be worn-way-too-much palm river hat.
To say Mom was surprised by the day is an understatement. It helped that we celebrated early since little did she know she’d also be wrangled into a photo shoot, which honestly I wish you could have been a fly on the wall for. Let’s just say food styling and modeling are not Mama K’s forte, though she is rocking that dress pretty well. So what do you have up your sleeve to celebrate Mom this year? Truly, MKR

When asked what my signature style is my answer is typically something along the lines of tomboy (I live in boyfriend jeans and sneakers) with an edge of femininity. But when I do indulge my feminine side, it’s usually when I’m dressing up and then its no holds bar…bring on the frills! Case in point, this floral baby blue number that makes me feel a bit like Cinderella. With its delicate nature, off the shoulder action and pockets, I’m the happiest girl around. And have I ever told you why I love off the shoulder so much? I’m partial to the style because it shows off my collarbone and shoulders which I love, but covers up a trouble area of mine; my upper arms. I know some of you feel me about upper arm insecurities.
But this isn’t my first love from Cynthia Rowley; as you’ll remember this ridiculously popular off the shoulder dress from last year (seen here). Like all dresses by Cynthia Rowley, this one nails that perfectly feminine-fancy look I go for when dressing up. And her dresses are always, always comfortable!
Paired with this amazing new Zac by Zac Posen bag (you must check his entire spring line out, I’m telling you) and my favorite fringe heels (also available here and here), I’m ready to hit the town! Tell me friends, what dresses make you feel like a princess? Truly, MKR
P.S. Oh, and it’s on SALE (available in more sizes here) which makes it even better.
