Easy 5 minute hair tutorial by @waitingonmartha Easy Braided Up Do | Hair Tutorial by @waitingonmartha Easy Braided Up Do | Hair Tutorial by Waiting on Martha

It’s hard to deny the power of an easy braided up do in these last dog days of summer. On the mornings when you’re flying out the door, and on the days when meetings fill your calendar all day long, an effortless, hands-off hairstyle is ideal.  And when said hairstyle takes only five minutes to do?!  Well, that’s pretty priceless.

We didn’t believe it was possible either, but after teaming up with the talented hair and makeup artist Jennifer Nieman, we discovered this easy braided up do.  We were all rendered speechless at how quickly Jen pulled together the look, and all agreed how effortless and elegant it turned out to be.  Take notes, friends, because this is a hair tutorial worth bookmarking long after summer is through!  Truly, MKR

Step 1…Start with wavy or curled hair. To achieve the waves, use either with a 1-inch or 1-1/4 inch curling iron or wand. Use light hairspray and a dry texture spray
Step 2…Part the hair your desired way (to the side or no part), and leave out any wisps if you prefer a loose, romantic look.
Step 3…Gather all of your hair to the back of your neck.
Step 4…Do a standard 3-strand braid.
Step 5…Roll the braid under and pin.

To finish the look, pull a few pieces of hair loose near the crown of the head.  Lastly, using hairspray or texture spray will help add looseness and texture to the braided up do.

And because we had to get the scoop on Jen’s favorite hair products, her go-to texture sprays include: Redken “Wind Blown” Dry Texture Spray, CHI Texturing Spray and Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1. And to hold the style, she always uses Kenra Volume Spray #25, Redken Fashion Work 12 and Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Hair Spray

A Killer Navy Leather Jacket & Easy Accessories for Every day

Fall outfit ideas by @waitingonmartha

I’m a huge fan of fall for SO many reasons (pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice candles, bonfires, tailgating…).  But one of the biggest reasons I love fall so much is the clothes!  For me, when it comes to dressing for the season, it’s all about awesome layers and great accessories.

Speaking of layers, let’s talk about this navy leather jacket.  You know I’m a sucker for a good leather jacket, in fact, I’d call a leather jacket my number one go-to piece when colder weather blows it.  But when I saw it in navy, I just died.  Truly, I have been eyeing it since last year, I kid you not.  And now I can finally attest that yes, it’s amazing and yes, it’s SO worth the splurge.  Because just like any great leather jacket, I know I’ll have it for years to come and it will only get better with age.  Plus in this gorgeous shade of blue, it’s a unique but traditional go-to piece.

Now that I think about it, along with the jacket, this outfit is full of so many of my go-to’s: skinny jeans, a stripe button down (I own about 20 of them) and some great runaround kicks…classic Adidas sneakers.  And for those great accessories I spoke of:  mirrored sunnies an easy crossbody bag, and a bandana.  Yes I’ve definitely jumped on the bandana train, but not the expensive bandana train because a bandana should NEVER be expensive!

Tell me, friends: what pieces will be on repeat in your closet, come fall?  And don’t be surprised when you see pretty much everything in this post on repeat!  Truly, MKR

Looking Ahead with W By Worth

Elevated Staples to Transition You Effortlessly in Style

I know I’ve chatted a bit already about this transitional weird-weather time of year (one day it’s summer, the next it’s fall), but when getting dressed #thestruggleisreal!  However, before you go ordering all sorts of pieces that will have a short-lived stay in your closet, consider investing in a few key items that will carry you through not only this transitional time, but also the next few seasons…no matter what the forecast has in mind.

For those of you new to the blog, here’s where I let you in on a little secret about two of my favorite brands: Worth New York and its sister W by Worth.  I was introduced to both earlier this year (seen here, here and here), and have become a season regular.  Each of their collections showcase wardrobe staples that can be worn now AND later, truly transcending seasons (and trends for that matter) with top-notch quality.

For today I specifically decided on each W By Worth item because I could see myself wearing them now and well into winter.  I just adore this grey pleated skirt with its not too long, not too short lengths, paired with my beloved over-the-knee boots (similar here).  For the now the skirt would look great with pumps or sandals, and then with booties and tights in later months. Up top I chose their suiting collar sleeveless blouse and classic black cardigan.  Staying on theme, I’m able to wear the sleeveless top alone now, but plan to pair it with a suit coat or under a sweater once the temps drop.  And speaking of black cardigans, I’m a firm believer that everyone should own one.  This one is lightweight, comfortable and incredibly versatile.

So that’s it; with one simple outfit in one of my favorite color palettes (black and white) I’m ready for whatever this whacky weather has in store.  Tell me friends, are you finding this transitional time as trying as me? Truly, MKR
