I’m not going to lie; there are some outfits I wear for the Blog because they’re beautiful, or on trend, or simply because they’ll photograph perfectly.  And then there’s outfits like todays that couldn’t be more “me.”   Like if there was an outfit named MKR this would be it.  Comfortable (sneakers), classic (cashmere sweater), tomboy (cargo jacket), girly (faux fur), and just a tad trendy (clutch).  See what I mean…MKR in a nutshell!

So let’s break it all down for you in case you just started following along and don’t know my love for a good little juxtaposition of styles yet. The glam of the faux fur mixed with the utility of the military jacket, (tomboy + girly), and the mix is the perfect move as we transition into colder temps…not too hot and not too cold.

The faux fur is actually from Zara?!  Yes Zara!!??  Has anyone else scored a MAJOR piece from Zara lately?!  Last time I was in the store, I was a kid in a candy shop over their premium line.  I was quick to snatch up a boss belted blazer that I wore to Create & Cultivate here a month ago.  And of course this fun color block faux fur stole (also available in this color) and which I love because it’s actually separate entirely from my jacket, making it the most versatile and soon-to-be most worn item in my wardrobe.

Paired also with this look: my favorite, super soft ripped black jeans.  I continue to love these black jeans season after season because they’re as comfortable as ever.  Forget that stiff, cardboard texture that so many black jeans have…these I could practically sleep in.  And on top, it’s time to pull out the always classic cashmere sweaters.  This one might truly be my favorite cashmere around and hint hint;I always wait until it goes on sale (like right now) and stock up.

And for the record, I’m officially convinced that Golden Gooses are the best sneakers ever.  I know, I know, they make an expensive sneaker.  But they’re the epitome of casual-cool, and beyond comfortable.  There’s nothing worse than getting a blister from cheap sneaks!  And trust me when I say these Gooses have been road tested.  I literally had to clean the red dirt off of them after our ropes course adventure in Birmingham last week (I hope you caught it on Snapchat).

To top it all off, I turned to my amazing statement clutch by the talented Lizzie Fortunato sisters and Sally King Benedict.  Because life is too short to carry boring handbags, don’t you agree?!  Truly, MKR

Boho Baby

Indulging my love in all things bohemian with a dress that can carry you from summer to fall

Back in high school I went through a “hippie” phase.  I’m talking hemp in my hair, tie dye, no makeup, so lost-in-teenage-angst-my-mother-hated-every-second-of-it phase I’m thankful was very short lived.  And while the days of hemp and clay bead braids may be gone my deep love for all things bohemian still lives on.  Case in point, this amazing W by Worth boho-esque paisley chiffon maxi dress I picked up a few weeks ago.

Not only is this dress beyond comfortable, but I love the fact that with a quick change of accessories this dress will carry you from summer all the way to fall.  Simply switch up the platform sandals to boots, the white crossbody to a darker say tan one, add a hat and you have an instant-leaves-are-falling, chill-is-in-the-air outfit.

And speaking of platform sandals, these favorites of mine from Loeffler Randall are on major sale.  In fact, so is the white crossbody and just about everything else like these pom pom sandals I’ve been lusting after and my striped platforms last seen here…so now is the time to stock up.

So tell me Friends, any teenage year moments you look back and laugh on?  Truly, MKR

My Go-To Cold Weather Uniform

In These Last Winter Weeks, I Have These Comfy, Chic Staples on Repeat

It’s pretty simple; in these last weeks of winter, I find myself gravitating to some of my favorite neutrals in my closet.  They’re all super cozy, and they are effortlessly chic when paired together.

First, THE best nude turtleneck sweater. I mean this sweater just screams cozy.  It was one of those golden finds from Zara last year…you know those particular Zara finds that you have to grab ’em while you can, because you won’t find them again.  It’s always bittersweet when you find a piece like this, yet it’s also worth celebrating.

Second, my favorite black distressed jeans that I wear all of the time. They’re comfortable to wear all day, and they instantly give my outfit a little edge to balance out the oversized sweater.

Next up, a structured, black leather purse that can take me all the way through business meetings to happy hour.  You know I’m a huge fan of Zac bags (as you can see here), so this beauty was a welcome recent addition in my wardrobe.

Lastly, a pair of statement sunnies always, because the struggle is real when it comes to that sunny winter glare!  Truly, MKR
