Aerin Williams Sonoma Home Collection x Waiting On Martha

Get ready for a big dose of pretty, friends, because the AERIN Williams Sonoma Home Collection has just been released, and it is BEYOND. I recently got a sneak peek at the dinnerware, glassware and decor pieces and can assure you: you’ll fall in love with every. single. piece.

And because it’s that good, I want to invite you to join me this Thursday night at the brand new Williams-Sonoma, The Avalon here in Atlanta to feast your eyes on all of these gorgeous pieces, and chat all about entertaining tips and tablescape styling ideas!

It’s true that ever since the second that I heard Williams-Sonoma was teaming up with AERIN brand founder Aerin Lauder for an exclusive home and table collection, I have been in anxious anticipation to see it all!  For as long as I can remember, I’ve admired Aerin’s seemingly effortless grace and ability to create beauty in whatever she touches.  And the Aerin Williams Sonoma Collection, as I expected, masterfully captures outdoor entertaining at its best, with inspiration from Palm Springs and a nod to green grass, beautiful blue skies and seas.  The pieces create a playful pattern play that begs for nights al fresco all summer long.  And, you know I can’t ever resist a blue and white tabletop.

But more on the collection itself; tune back in tomorrow to see how I incorporated a few of her gorgeous pieces into my everyday and in the meantime, mark your calendars for this Thursday night at Williams-Sonoma store at The Avalon.  The event runs from 7-8:30 pm, so don’t feel like you need to stay the whole time…feel free to pop in whenever!  I’m so looking forward to seeing you there! Truly, MKR

5 Tailgate Essentials You Can’t Forget on Game Day

College Football Season is Here, Friends
Filed Under > "Hostess with the Mostest"

It’s officially FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!  (Okay, I had to find a way to fit that in here somewhere!)  But no matter who your team is, you’ll agree that the excitement of another college football season is simply contagious.  The food, the drink, the culture that surrounds the tradition of tailgating is reason enough for celebrating, and when you pair that with great football (this is our year, Vols)…well it just can’t be beat.

Hopefully you have some college football games on the books; a long day of tailgating and cheering on your favorite team is just good for the soul.  Before you go though, make sure you have all of the tailgate essentials to ensure that you set up a proper spread.  Check out the slideshow of what I consider to be the five most important tailgate essentials by clicking on the picture above.  Go Vols!  Cheers, Kat

DIY Succulents

These Easy Homemade Pots Make the Best Gifts
Filed Under > "Hostess with the Mostest"

This tutorial is one of our most popular posts from the archives, and for good reason, too!  Our DIY succulents make for an easy, thoughtful homemade gift any time of year.

The beauty about succulents is that they can really be all different shapes and sizes…and any type of pot or container will work as long as there’s a drainage hole (love these, these and these).

As MKR taught us in the original post, you’ll want to stick to gritty, sandy, rocky soil.  Fill your pots 3/4 full with soil.  Next, remove succulents gently from containers, tapping off extra dirt, and arranging the succulents however you want inside the pots. If needed, add additional soil and gently pat around the arranged succulents.

Succulents are pretty hard to kill, but you still do need to water them. However, don’t drown your arrangement with a cup of water, instead pouring a little and wait until the dirt completely absorbs the water, repeating 1-2 times once a week (during the warmer months). The rest of the year, the plants need much less water.

As for sunlight, succulents do want it (and may lean towards the light if they aren’t getting enough).  But it’s best to keep them out of all-day sun.  If the succulents begin to yellow, that can mean too much sun or overwatering.  Happy planting!  Truly MKR
