I’ve always been a fan of a great at-home bar. I strongly believe it’s a must-learn life skill to mix up classic cocktails, and as an avid host, it’s important to provide an array...
Looking back on Easter as a child, I remember how excited I was to dig through my Easter basket. Full of chocolate bunnies, malt ball Easter eggs, Peeps, golden coins, and my favorite Cadbury...

With that little blip of spring weather earlier this week, I found myself yearning for warm days already. Definitely wishful thinking on my part, but around this time every year, I’m itching to file my sweaters and scarves away for another year. But reality has it that the temps have dipped again, and I’m still relying heavily on a few favorite cold weather staples.
Early on this winter season, I hunted down the exact black turtleneck I was on the hunt for (on major sale right now too). This piece has proven to be just one of my favorite winter style essentials that I find myself reaching for again and again. Like a favorite pair of jeans, this sweater makes me feel good the second I put it on…I can just depend on it to make me feel put together and like myself. I was specifically on the hunt for a lightweight option, and it’s proven to be a great buy (I bought it in grey too!).
Since I’ve recently been on a big fewer-better-pieces kick (probably in huge part due to one of my favorite brands, Cuyana), I’ve come to find that having a few basic winter style essentials that I really, really like (like said hat, a wool hat and a great oversized scarf) makes it easier to get dressed every day. So in the slideshow above, I’ve rounded up five winter style essentials that I think are crucial for anyone’s cold weather fashion game. These pieces are classic, timeless and ones that will take your outfit up a notch or two…while keeping you warm and cozy. Nothing crazy—we don’t need street style on the way to the office or happy hour—but practical pieces you’ll be glad you have in your closet. What do you consider to be your winter style essentials? Cheers, Kat
P.S. Any fellow Cuyana fans out there: can we talk about how good the spring collection is going to be?! I think I bookmarked every piece, and it’s just another reason why I’m counting down until warmer days. xo

On the reading list? Well quite a few actually. But with a mix of boss-status motivational books, a few page-turning novels, some gorgeous cookbooks and of course a book or two pretty enough to stand alone as decor for that shelfie, this list is looking quite enjoyable!
The One Thing: In a fascinating, yet so simple, concept, this best seller encourages people to focus their energy on only one thing at a time, leading them to live more rewarding lives by building their careers, strengthening their finances, losing weight and getting in shape, deepening their faith, and nurturing stronger marriages and personal relationships.
The Leadership Secrets of Santa Claus: Any tips from one of the most time-strapped bosses around is welcome by me. This entertaining read sheds light on many of the most common management and leadership struggles, and gives advice on how to produce significant and sustained results, and you know I love Christmas all year round.
The Go-Giver: This great read shows how powerful it can be as a small business owner to give in order to receive. With this change of focus, you can actually receive more ten-fold.
Sandcastle Kings: Written by the star of Rich in Faith, the reality show I’m watching on Oxygen, SK explains that our answer to spiritual bankruptcy is through knowing Jesus. I can’t wait to dig into this one, and I just love how Rich Wilkerson, Jr. is bringing a young vibe back to the church.
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: I’m currently reading this, and you know I’m going to go ahead and say it too: it’s truly life-changing. It’s really changed how I look at the art of tidying up, and has led me to see ways to simplify and de-clutter my life I never did before. Stay tuned for my full download of this must-read here on the blog soon. Eve: Up next on my reading list, this is the highly-anticipated second book by the author of The Shack, which I read in literally 24 hours. WM. Paul Young knows how to craft a deliciously intriguing angle, as he brings his readers down a fictional, yet religiously-based storyline. Eve is about none other than Eve herself, exploring The Creation narrative and the context of our beginnings. Toast: a gorgeous cookbook about one of my favorite bites. We’re always reading cookbooks for inspiration in the kitchen, so this was a no-brainer.
The Southerner’s Cookbook: By the editors of Garden & Gun, this is definitely an entertaining staple.
All In Good Taste: This book by Kate Spade is filled with helpful how-to’s and charming entertaining tips you’ll be dying to put to use at your next soiree.
Love Style Life:After Kat’s obsession with How to be Parisian Wherever You Are, she knew she would lovethis NY Times bestseller by one of our go-to’s for all things chic: Garance Doré. Stay tuned for Kat’s favorite takeaways from Garance’s life + travel wisdom (and I’m sure a stylish ‘gram with the book or two).
Harry Potter: it would be an injustice to write any kind of reading post without mentioning this series. The WOM team doesn’t pretend to be anything but dorks when it comes to our favorite wizarding gang. It’s one of those series that you always come back to, whether you’re doing a quick reread, watching the movies or listening onAudible(Kat’s favorite road trip companion). I’ll be proud to pass down my limited edition series someday, originally snagged on One Kings Lane, and I encourage any true fan to own their own collector’s edition series.
