One glance at this punchy pink green tablescape from the archives and I’m itching to find an excuse to throw a girly get-together. MKR styled this spread back in 2013, but she completely nailed the true timelessness of pink and green; the color combo is a quintessential staple in Southern style and entertaining.
Inspired by her favorite summer indulgence, key lime pie, MKR brought together details on the table that are light, fresh, feminine, and perfect for spring and summer. The floral centerpiece alone deserves throwing a party for; I love that MKR incorporated key limes with the fluffy pink peonies, euca willow, dianthus and viurnum opulus (find the centerpiece tutorial here).
For setting the table, For the place settings, MKR stuck to these five basic tips: think variation in color and height, don’t be afraid to mix color and pattern, invest in white dinner or salad plates to serve as the starting point to your place setting, go all out with gold flatware or copper flatware, and don’t forget fresh flowers! Head over to the original post to find more spring and summer tablescape inspo. Cheers, Kat
When menu planning for a day like Mother’s Day, I often go back and forth about what to serve that’s just as tasty as it is beautiful. And there’s one thing I know for sure: I’m serving this Grilled Georgia Peach Salad again this year (and all summer long). While Mama K and I shot our Mother’s Day brunch inspiration with J.McLaughlin, we were the most excited about devouring this salad, along with all the cheese, once the shoot was wrapped!
Fitting of any Georgia gal, I love pretty much peach-anything, and grilled peaches take that love to a whole new level, let me tell you. There’s something about the way the juicy fruit softens, sweetens and turns golden brown, exploding with the taste of summer in each bite. Grilling the peaches gives the fruit a new dimension to its sweetness, and paired with tangy fig balsamic, bitter arugula, herbed goat cheese, sweet snap peas and candied pecans…it’s just all a little unreal and has me excited about salads again.
And of course you know (or at least if you follow along) how I always talk about texture with my dishes, and this grilled peach salad hits the mark. The tender grilled peaches + fresh pop of snap peas + crunch of the candied pecans makes for one wonderful bite every time. Tell me, have you fired up the grill this season yet?! Truly, MKR

If there’s ever a reason to go all out, I’d say Mother’s Day is an obvious choice. This year when prepping for the big day, I had an idea of what I wanted to pull together; a no-fuss brunch filled with all of mom’s favorites. Miniature cast iron skillet quiches, almond filled croissants, macaroons, and the ultimate fruit tart. A fresh (and super simple) salad of grilled Georgia peaches, spring snap peas, and candied pecans, plus a seasonal rhubarb and strawberry fizzy libation (recipes coming this week). And of course, plenty of cheeses and nuts to nibble on, as I know we’ll linger at the table long after official brunch hours are through.
This year, though, I knew the biggest treat of all wouldn’t be the brunch, but rather what I had waiting for her at brunch. You see my Mother is one of the most selfless, giving, generous people I know. Always caring for others before herself, often pushing her needs and wants to the side, which means Mama K does not treat herself near enough. So along with brunch and blooms, I also had a new spring wardrobe waiting for her from one of our favorites, J.McLaughlin.
J.McLaughlin is a go-to for me when I’m in need of high quality, effortless looks that I (and Mom) will wear for years to come. For Mom, I picked out a few spring shirtdresses in punched up patterns I knew she could dress up for a date night with Dad, or throw on some sandals for a more casual day look. Because Mom loves color, I also snagged her these amazing silk and linen pants in marigold (I grabbed the ivory for myself), a blue gingham button down and easy summer sweater. I, of course, couldn’t resist picking up a few things for myself like this classic and comfortable stripe dress, pom-pom shorts because obviously they have pom-poms, and my soon to be worn-way-too-much palm river hat.
To say Mom was surprised by the day is an understatement. It helped that we celebrated early since little did she know she’d also be wrangled into a photo shoot, which honestly I wish you could have been a fly on the wall for. Let’s just say food styling and modeling are not Mama K’s forte, though she is rocking that dress pretty well. So what do you have up your sleeve to celebrate Mom this year? Truly, MKR
