A few weeks ago, my friend and photog Kathryn and I escaped the city to celebrate the launch of the Rural Art Farm Cottages at Serenbe. The launch gave us a peek at small house living; we poked around the cottages that will serve as artists’ new digs, all constructed by architecture students at Auburn University. We knew we were in for a treat…especially since our friends (and noted designers) Steve McKenzie & Kerry Howard created the gorgeous interiors.
Being back at Serenbe also reminded me just what a little road trip can do for your soul; you feel so removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, and you’re only 45 minutes away. But when we hopped in the car, I was in no way prepared for just how FREEZING it was that day (I swear it almost snowed)! Skipping around to get warm in my fave platform sneakers (actually so comfortable), I was happy to at least have my camel Campaign coat and my wool fedora to keep a little heat in. And of course, being hands-free thanks to my Christmas present to myself (talk about a beautiful cross-body bag) helped too. Now if only I had remembered some mittens! Truly, MKR
