Homemade Rosemary Sea Salt Popcorn

I’m not actually much of a popcorn person. Sure, if I go to the movies I’ll order a tub, but it’s more about the liquid gold butter that I’m able to pour on without abandon then the popcorn itself.  However, recently at a Waiting On Martha Home event, a local chef brought in a giant bowl of Rosemary Sea Salt Popcorn, and let’s just say I didn’t leave that bowls side all night.

In fact, I stalked the Chef because I just couldn’t get over how she said she made it. No butter, just high-quality olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt on the stovetop.  Stovetop I get, but no butter, I just couldn’t believe it.

But the next night I tried my hand at recreating rosemary sea salt popcorn at home, and while I didn’ t master the recipe until three batches later I now have it perfected and I’m not sure I’ll ever go back to regular ol’ butter popcorn again.

Here’s the key, you’ve got to let it sit overnight.  Very much like pasta and takeout Chinese food, this popcorn is better the next day when it’s completely absorbed all the raw olive oil, sea salt, and rosemary goodness. So while I know if you’re anything like me you’ll sneak a few handfuls straight out of the pot, you’ll be so much happier if you delay the gratification and save the majority of it for tomorrow.

And yes ten sprigs sound like a lot of rosemary, it’s not.  It’s just the perfect subtle hit that rosemary lovers will appreciate and those on the fence about rosemary probably won’t even be able to pinpoint as rosemary.

Grab the recipe below (Bloglovin followers you’ll need to click into the post to see the recipe in its entirety), and try out a batch of this rosemary sea salt popcorn and enjoy! Truly, MKR

P.S. If you’re looking to try this recipe over an open flame how cute is this popcorn popper?!

Ingredients
  1. 10 sprigs of fresh rosemary sprigs
  2. 1 cup organic popcorn seeds
  3. 1/4 cup avocado or canola oil (any oil that can handle high heat)
  4. 1/4 cup organic, high quality olive oil
  5. sea salt
Instructions
  1. In a large, tall pot add the canola oil, popcorn seeds, and 6 rosemary springs.
  2. Turn on the burner to high heat and place the lid on the pot.
  3. Once you hear the corn beginning to pop shake the pot a few times to make sure the bottom kernels don't burn. Once the popping begins to slow remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Then transfer to a very large mixing bowl, add additional 5 sprigs and drizzle with a high quality olive oil, and plenty of sea salt. Stir to well until completely mixed.
  5. Transfer mixture to 1 or 2 large ziploc bags and let sit overnight. It's so much better after resting overnight!

From a health transforming probiotic, non-toxic mascara that actually works, & a $10 ice roller here's everything I'm loving in beauty now
Filed Under > Beauty & Tutorials

A roundup of the best non toxic beauty buys, including the best non toxic mascara

top to bottom: The best non toxic mascara, overnight resurfacing peel, eye rescue creamcoconut melt, seed probiotic, lemongrass sugar scrub, BC body lotion, perfume from Tulum that will have you smelling like the beach, orchid face oil, the only eyeshadow palette you’ll ever need, facial ice roller, Himalayan salt scalp scrub & wash, coconut sea mist texturizing spray

While I’m not a makeup obsessed person (my everyday makeup routine consists of less than 8 products which I’ll be sharing with y’all next week), I am a product-obsessed person.

It’s probably because I’ve struggled with my skin since the age of thirteen.  And while my skin is better than ever, it seems that every day there’s a new issue to tackle thanks to mother nature so I’m always on the hunt for the next best magic concoction. Plus, someone has to test all of those Waiting On Martha Home beauty products before they go on the shelf right?!

But today’s roundup doesn’t just have to do with what I’m currently putting on my skin, but also what I’ve been taking every day with my morning coffee.  I’m talking about the holy grail, the motherload, the best probiotic I’ve ever taken. And trust me when I say I’ve tried out at least a dozen probiotics over the past six or so years, but this one by Seed has been a gut-health game changer.

Along with my new probiotic, some of my favorite products I’m sharing today include a $10 ice roller that will roll the stress away along with your eye bags. A Himalayan scalp scrub that might be the best shampoo I’ve ever used. A perfume from Tulum that has me smelling like the beach all year long. A face oil with a cult following, and so many other great green, non-toxic beauty products I swear by.

And lastly, I have finally found a non-toxic mascara that actually works.  You see the problem with non-toxic or “green” mascara is they tend to flake before noon leaving me with a constant racoon eye I have to rub away.  Not with this one. Not only does it volumize as it says, but it doesn’t flake like the others. Plus it lasts, I can confidently wear this mascara all day, without re-applying once! Best non toxic mascara ever!

Keep reading below to see more in-depth descriptions of these thirteen products and how I use them. And if you’re following along via Bloglovin, please note you have to actually click into the post to see all thirteen products broken down. Truly, MKR

P.S. If you’re interested in why I’ve changed my entire beauty routine over to clean products I encourage you to read THIS.

Kopari Coconut Melt

This coconut melt is unlike others, I’m not quite sure how or why, but it’s definitely the best I’ve used to date. You can use it as a hair mask, moisturizer, makeup remover, shaving oil, and so much more.  I love it as a chapstick. And it will last forever! A little goes a long way!

Heres a few more ideas… as a hair mask by applying it to your hair from root to tip and letting it sit from 40 minutes to overnight; slather it all over your body from head to toe to moisturize; dab a little on a cotton ball and wipe it over your face to remove makeup; or even massage onto dry or damp legs as a shaving oil. Scoop out a generous glob and drop it in a hot bath; dab underneath your eyes to reduce dark circles; massage it all over your baby’s skin; or rub it all over your pregnant belly.

G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub

I get migraines, so I was immediately sold when I read about Goops Himalayan salt scalp scrub. I mean doesn’t it sound so refershing?  What I didn’t expect was what an amazing shampoo it would be!

Made of exfoliating mineral-rich Himalayan pink salt, nourishing cold-pressed moringa oil, and pure unfiltered rose hip oil purifies and detoxifies all at once. The scrub cleanses the hair and scalp of product buildup, dirt, and oil, leaving both clean and refreshed. The cleansing scent—rosemary, geranium, orange, and peppermint—lingers subtly in hair and smells amazing as you wash.

And I know its a bit on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way. This container lasted me about a month and a half.

Formulated with the same salinity as the Pacific Ocean, this naturally fragrant sea salt spray will bring new life and beachy volume to flat uninspired locks. The essential oils of coconut and vanilla give off an exotic aroma. Seed Probiotic

As I stated above, I’ve tried at least a dozen different probiotics over the years, but this one has been the biggest game changer.  My explanation here won’t do it justices because it involves a lot of science, so I suggest visiting their site and reading for yourself.  And if you do decide to give it a whirl, make sure you follow their dosing protocol to get started.  I ended up not reading the directions and taking the full dosage right away rather than working up to it and it made me nauseous.  Once I actually followed directions I was good to go!

One Last Summer Look

Saying goodbye to summer with my staples

If there’s anyone who’s ready to say goodbye to summer, trust me, it’s me. Don’t get me wrong, I like summer.  Like being the operative word. I’m just not good with the extreme Southern heat, I never have been.  So unlike many of you who want to stretch summer days out indefinitely, I’m ready to embrace all things fall.

But before I pull out the chunky knits, jewel tone suedes, and all things faux fur I figured I’d embrace one more outfit post with a few of my everyday staples.  Some of the pieces are summer to the core, and a few are more everyday pieces like my grey jeans because my white jeans were already packed away.

Almost all of these clothing pieces in today’s post are older or re-buys.  Older meaning they’ve lasted and I’ve been able to wear them season after season. Re-buys meaning I buy the same type of piece or brand each season in a different print or pattern. And the good thing about talking about these favorites of mine now is you can score many of them on sale! Win, win.

The older staples: my Madewell high waisted jeans, my Balenciaga wedges (going on 4 summers now), and my Celine sunnies

I’ve tried a lot of jeans in my life, but Madewell jeans seem to be the winner.  They’re comfortable, they last forever, and the price point won’t break the bank.  I’m wearing the black high rise here, but I also have these ones and these ones.

My Balenciaga wedges are probably the most comfortable shoes I own, but sadly they don’t make them anymore.  When they discontinued this particular style I bought 2 additional pairs because I love them that much.  But they’ve held up so well, I haven’t even had to wear the backups yet. I did link a few similar styles below, I’m particularly fond of these ones.

And then rounding out my older staple pieces would have to be my Celine sunnies.  I typically have issues with sunglasses because while it may not look it I actually have a very small head meaning so many sunglasses end up being too big.  And if you’ve ever had a pair of sunglasses stretch out on you then you’ll understand when I say there is nothing more annoying than sunglasses that fall of your head.  Celines and Karen Walkers fit my head perfectly, they last forever and are definitely worth the price point.  I’ve had these Celine’s for almost 3 years now and my Karen Walkers for almost six!

For my re-buys: my Roller Rabbit tunic, Colores Collective tassel bag, and some fun, inexpensive summer earrings and bracelets to add to my collection.

I buy numerous Roller Rabbit pieces each summer because I love their detailing and cotton or gauzy material.  This one is actually a dress that I often wear as an actual dress, but here I tucked it up into my bra to make it a tunic.  Innovative I know.  If you’re a Roller Rabbit fan like I am there are plenty of Roller Rabbit pieces on sale HERERoller Rabbit does tend to run a bit big, but that’s how you want it to fit so keep that in mind when ordering.

Lastly, each season I always like to add inexpensive and fun accessories to the mix. This summer I was all about straw totes like the one here from Colores Collective, and bright light earrings like these and these.  I love that because they’re not an investment I’m not worried if they’ll hold up or I’ll lose them when traveling.

So that’s it. My last post filled with summer vibes.  Thank God.  Bring on the fall my Friends! Truly, MKR
