Decadent food.  Meticulously-styled place settings.  Lush florals spanning the table.  All the makings of a wonderful tablescape.  It will come to you as no surprise when I say that setting the table for a special occasion is one of my absolute favorite things to do.

But the life that happens in between those special, planned occasions is what I consider to be the most authentic and cherished.  Those are the occasions I can be found enjoying the casual, and beautiful simplicity of entertaining.  Where the food is effortless, the wine is flowing, and my table is filled with favorite pieces like a collected blue and white pitcher, and a few new finds woven in.

For the next four weeks, join me as I team up with our friends at World Market to share easy, casual dining inspiration.  As you’ll see, simple recipes, curated place settings (and of course, good company), lend themselves to create the kind of gatherings that are both achievable and affordable. Hopefully you too will be inspired to get creative in tastefully mixing and matching old pieces with new.

Today’s spread, to me, is the perfect relaxed vibe for any day of the week.  With a cool California feel, and the help of new additions from World Market in the form of classic linen napkins, washed driftwood chargers, and the most perfectly imperfect ocean blue place settings I’ve ever spied I imagine sitting at this table in the hills of wine country, where I would most certainly stay a long long while.  Truly, MKR

P.S. Tune in next week as I share another table full of casual dining and entertaining inspiration and head over to World Market’s blog for more. xo

As you know, we take our tablescapes pretty seriously here at WOM, but like everyone, we can also get stuck in a rut styling said tables.  Sure, we all play favorite with different types of dinnerware, flatware and the such over the years, but it can all start to becoming a bit boring and maybe even too expected holiday after holiday.  So in order to spice things up, I’ve recently turned to napkins to bring a little flavor to the mix. A little fold here, a little fold there, and your place setting now has that elevated feel you’d find at your favorite restaurant.

Since a nicely-folded napkin can set even the simplest of tables apart when entertaining, especially for a special occasion, I knew I wanted to tackle an easy napkin tutorial with our friends at World Market just in time for the holidays.  As you saw here on the blog last month, I find myself turning to World Market time and time again for all of those unique, yet totally affordable, details when I’m entertaining. This way I’m more inclined to mix and match to keep the table fresh and fun.

Mastering a few new ways to fold a napkin isn’t as hard as you’d think.  In the gallery below you’ll find super easy step-by-step instructions for five different napkin folds that you can print out and file away for all your holiday entertaining needs. (Don’t worry I still need a cheat sheet sometimes too!)  Truly, MKR

With all of the gifting that comes with the holiday season, I’d be lying if I said it’s always easy crossing everyone off my list.  But instead of resorting to generic, last-minute-I’m-starting-to-panic finds, I turn to holiday gift baskets.  With each basket, I can tailor a theme to each specific person, filling it with thoughtful and creative goodies. I’ve found that these gift baskets are always more appreciated plus with the right filler and ribbon they can be truly show stopping!

Holiday gift basket ideas are virtually endless, and fortunately you can find so many goodies that are reasonably priced.  World Market has quickly become my go-to because I never have time to be running around town finding each addition to the holiday gift baskets. World Market literally a one-stop-shop for everything I need: baskets, giftsfood, sweet treats and even wine!

Here, I’ve pulled together two creative holiday gift basket ideas: one for the baker and one for the tea-lover.  I had such fun choosing items specifically tailored to each theme, and it was SO easy; a basket, filler, gifts all tied together with a bow.  These can make great gifting solutions for a foodie, the newlyweds, your child’s teacher, a boss, a next door neighbor, a wine lover..seriously anyone.  Happy gift basket gifting this year!  Truly, MKR
