Bruleed Grapefruit & Gin Fizz

A Lovely Sip to Enjoy as a Signature Cocktail & Beyond
Filed Under > Cocktail Hour

Grapefruit Gin Fizz Cocktail via Waiting on MarthaGrapefruit Gin Fizz, a great recipe for a signature cocktail

In preparation for the many celebrations this time of year naturally brings I’ve been trying to step outside my comfort zone and create new cocktail combinations. Case in point: my Bruleed Grapefruit & Gin Fizz. By combining the sugary-caramelization from bruleeing with the natural tartness of grapefruit, and topping it all off with a dash of lime and a sprig of thyme, you’ll be toasting this season with the most perfect of sips. Cheers!  Truly, MKR

When the temps begin to move towards sweater weather, my cocktail menu tends to move towards one of my favorite drinks; the Moscow Mule.  Though I have just a slight twist that I believe makes the classic mule just a tad better.  I add mint.  By combing tart ginger beer, fresh mint and lime juice all stirred up in a copper mug; well there’s truly nothing better.  And with the growing popularity of Moscow Mules finding all the necessities is easier than ever.  But I do have an insider tip when mixing up this libation.  Don’t chop or tear the mint, inside lay the leaves flat in the palm of your hand and clap your hands together.  By clapping down on the mint you’re releasing it’s flavor more than by chopping or even muddling.  You can do this with your mint garnish as well.  Cheers!  truly, MKR

Sugar n’ Spice White Russian

The Best White Russian Recipe and a Nod to The Big Lebowski
Filed Under > Cocktail Hour

The best White Russian cocktail recipe, Waiting on MarthaThe best White Russian recipe, Waiting on Martha

When throwing our annual Holiday party, the Mr. only has one request.  White Russians.  Or rather a Caucasian as he and all his cronies (I’m talking to you Gaines) call it because they’re obsessed with The Big Lebowski.  But when I received a little package from Smirnoff containing their newest gem, Cinna-Sugar Twist Vodka, I decided to kick the standard up a notch and created a Sugar n’ Spice White Russian.  A combination of sugary spice and cinnamon which reminds me of all things wintery and warm.

Though our Sugar n’ Spice White Russian is sure to be a hit with the ladies it might be a tad on the sweet side for the gents.  My suggestion is to set up a White Russian DIY Station.  Display the necessary ingredients on the bar (or even on a side table close to the bar) and let your guest decide how sweet they want their Russian.  Cheers Loves!  truly, MKR

DIY White Russian Station:
  • Vodka
  • Cinnamon & Sugar Smirnoff Vodka
  • Kahlua
  • 1/2 and 1/2
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon Sticks or Cinnamon Spice
  • Spoons or Stir Sticks
  • Straws
  • Rocks Glasses (I used our Dwell Studio malachite ones above)
