Today is an exciting day here at the WOM offices…we can FINALLY debut our all-new, exclusive Tini Tables in partnership with one of our favorites, Oomph!  They couldn’t have turned out more gorge, hand-painted in Farrow & Ball’s Chappell Green with a raffia top and in my two favorite shapes…perfection.

This made-in-America, handmade piece is one of my favorite ways to accessorize a room, no doubt about it.  I was hooked after including a Tini Table in my office as part of my first One Room Challenge (and it was used again in Round #2 of the ORC for my loft makeover!).  While small and lightweight, the tables’ impressive craftsmanship and high quality shine through. They prove to be incredibly versatile in your home, serving as the perfect surface for your morning cup of coffee, reading material and of course, your glass of vino.  In fact, many a Saturday night you’ll see me move my Tini Table from the office to the sofa to get ready for movie night.  You know I’m obsessed with Chappell Green, it’s the perfect chameleon color.  It adds a pop to every room, while never competing with the overall design.

The WOM x Oomph Tini Table II and Tini Table IV are available exclusively through Oomph Online and the WOM Shop.  And we mean exclusive, we’re only making about a dozen of these pretties so when they’re gone they’re gone!  Tell me loves, how will you enjoy your Tini Table?Truly, MKR

When Your TV Doubles As Art; Introducing The Samsung Frame

A Stunning New Addition to My Gallery Wall

If you’re anything like me then you constantly find yourself struggling between wanting the latest and greatest technology at home, but also wanting said technology not to be a giant eyesore.  I mean I spend countless hours, days, months even designing every aspect of every space in my home and then I have to put a giant clunky, black metal, television on my wall with about 20 different cords all to watch The Great British Baking Show?!! Finally, a solution.

Enter Samsung’s newest game changer: the Samsung Frame TV.  And yes, the name says it all; it’s a fancy television that doubles as beautiful art the second you turn it off.

As soon as I discovered that this was in fact a real thing, I knew I HAD to have the Frame TV by Samsung on my expansive gallery wall.  As you may remember, our gallery wall is one of my pride and joys, and was the result of a past One Room Challenge design project.  It sports 20+ pieces of original art and 3-d objects.  And in the room, which is our loft, we’ve set up a home bar where we sometimes have a little nightcap, as well as play a game or too.  Think puzzles, backgammon, etc.

The loft could be considered an in-between space in our home, but it actually is a high-traffic area.  And whenever we have a full house over the holidays, we host a guest or two on the sleeper sofa.  So of course, I’ve wanted a TV there for some time now, but this was the one wall in my home that I was not going to sacrifice.

So let me tell you: the Samsung Frame TV is beautiful.  You can completely customize the layout and style of frame, with a shadow box, matte color, etc.  You can even decide if you want a panoramic piece, triptych or mixed layout! Plus the actual frame of the Frame is interchangeable, so rest assured it will flow seamlessly with the design of your home.

As for the art itself, there are more than 100 available pieces within 10 different genres that have been carefully curated to show when the TV isn’t being used as is set in Art Mode..  It also has a motion detection setting so whenever the Samsung Frame senses someone walking into the room it will automatically go into Art Mode turning your art of choice on if you don’t want the TV to stay on constantly.  You can choose from landscapes, abstracts, wild life, urban architecture…you name it.  And if you’d prefer to showcase family photos instead, you can upload them directly yourself.  It’s all controlled and easily changed by your smartphone.  I mean, #GENIUS.  And because it connects to your phone you can also run apps like Spotify, YouTube, and Instagram right on The Frame as well as search the internet.

My husband, of course, appreciates the specs of The Frame TV. It’s 4K UHD, features a Smart View and one remote control, as well as a no-gap flush to the wall mount and only two cords.  That’s right only 2 small, thin cords!!  I have a feeling I’ll be catching him watching the Cubs in here more times than I can count!

I’m extremely thrilled to welcome this new addition to my gallery wall, the only sad thing is now all of my other televisions pale in comparison.  Time to switch them all out don’t you think?! #iwish  And in case you were wondering, yes The Great British Baking Show is absolutely my favorite Television Show.  Truly, MKR

Chatting with the Talented Lady Behind These Bold, Vibrant Pieces

An interview with artist Hayley Mitchell Hayley Mitchell abstract facesHayley Mitchell Art Hayley Mitchell abstract artHayley Mitchell Art interviewHayley Mitchell abstracts Hayley Mitchell abstract art

Chances are, you’ve seen some of these striking faces around the web. Done by talented Austin artist Hayley Mitchell, each of these bold, colorful pieces somehow seem to still tell a separate intriguing story. It’s easy to see how these works can be considered statement pieces in a home, and as you saw in our team office’s One Room Challenge Reveal, an original piece by Hayley simply steals the show. (And in my opinion, neutrals never looked farther from boring!)

Hayley sure knows the staying power of statement art in the home, which has a lot to do with why she loves collaborating with interior designers. But she also shared with us how knowing others find joy in her pieces is the ultimate reward.  Check out our full interview with the talented lady below, go peruse her current originals, and pop over to her Etsy shop to find her prints available for purchase.  Cheers, Kat

WOM: Describe your aesthetic in your own words.
KM: Vibrant and bold. I love a bright, colorful statement.

WOM: How would you say art plays a role in the design of a room?
KM: Art is like jewelry. It has the power to bring a room’s statement to fruition.

WOM: Where do you find inspiration for your pieces?
KM: Everywhere! Everyday life, my kids, historical figures and various cultures around the world.

WOM: Who’s your girl crush and/or style icon?
KM: So many but Alice Temperly has my heart.

WOM: Tell us about the creative process for youHow often do you produce new pieces?
KM: I create new pieces daily. My creative process is a bit of a mess. I create and care for 3 little humans simultaneously. I take a very bohemian approach to motherhood and the creative process. All ideas start in my sketchbook. I sometimes pull from sketchbooks from years past.

WOM: Do you ever get attached to any specific pieces?
KM: Yes. I started an abstract series a year ago. I only created 5 pieces but I cannot part with any of them.

WOM: Tell us a little about your journey in pursuing your creative dreams. Had you always dreamed of being an artist? Have you hit hurdles along the way?
KM: Since childhood I’ve wanted to be an artist. At ACU I majored in graphic design. I took some time off from school to travel with my sister in Europe as she modeled. We lived near the Pompidou which was amazing. Wondering around alone in Paris was amazing but I realized my dreams of being forever single might not be for me. I met my husband Ben (from ATL) and married young (21) during the Recession and soon there after found out we were expecting. That bit of time was definitely a hurdle but it was very formative (both literally and figuratively). Within the next 3 years we had a total of 3 kids. Despite the challenges, it fostered a great amount of personal growth that inspired me to really purse my artistic career.

WOM: How has your work evolved over time?
KM: Yes and no. Most of my work (since childhood) have been faces and people.

WOM: Have you had any “pinch-me moments” or significant milestones that have helped solidify your name in the creative world?
KM: Honestly, the moments that mean the most to me are kind words from those that truly love and enjoy my work. That feedback is sunshine for the soul. Knowing that one of my pieces brings someone joy or comfort is everything.

WOM: What would your dream collaboration look like? Anyone you’re dying to team up with?
KM: I love working with interior designers! It would be a dream to work with Eddie Ross or Jonathan Adler.

WOM: Where can fans buy your beautiful work?
KM: My website: hayleymitchellart.com
