Saturday Skin, Primally Pure and more nontoxic favorites | Waiting on Martha

The change of seasons brings about even more reason to give your skin a little TLC. You’ll quickly sense a moisturizing-obsessed theme here too; I’m giving extra attention to the hydrating and nourishing products that make me feel my best all over.

I recently went on a little spree with Saturday Skin — isn’t the packaging beautiful? And of course, I’ve been finishing my Colleen Rothschild favorites, too. Read about these current go-to’s below, and tell me if you’ve tried any, and what you think! Truly, MKR

One. Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil. I’m a huge fan of Weleda; it’s an affordable, nontoxic brand that’s easy to find (hello, Target) and boasts effective products to boot. This cellulite oil helps tone and firm up the skin, using natural essential oils. You won’t find any fragrance, added color or preservatives in this nourishing and moisturizing oil.

Two. One Love Organics Love + Charcoal Mask. One of my favorite things about OLO products is how hydrating they are. This luxurious mask uses aloe vera and charcoal to detox the skin, cleansing it but never drying it out. If you’re on the lookout for the perfect mask, you’ve got to try this one.

Three. Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Cream. I gravitate to all eye creams and balms as I’ve found my eyes to show my age. I recently tried a bundle of Saturday Skin products — they had me on their packaging!) and was pleasantly surprised to find the cream to be great at reducing puffiness. Its smooth application is refreshing and lovely.

Four. Colleen Rothschild Sheer Renewal Cream. A lightweight, sheer, non-greasy moisturizer? Sign me up. I’ve since emptied this Colleen Rothschild cream and going back for more! It hasn’t caused any breakouts; instead, it’s left my skin happy and glowing. I love to wear it as a deep hydrating cream when I head to bed.

Five. Herbivore Botanicals Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask. It wouldn’t be “Me Time” without a cooling face mask. There’s just something so satisfying about applying a mask that you can truly FEEL doing its magic on the skin. This blue wonder by Herbivore Botanicals is a bestseller at Waiting on Martha Home, and for obvious reason. #obsessed

Six. Kiel’s ‘Superbly Restorative’ Argan Body Lotion. Are you sensing a theme here? I’m obsessed with moisturizing my skin all over, especially as we hop into spring. I love this cult-classic body lotion for its ability to absorb into the skin quickly. It has Moroccan argan oil to thank for its antioxidant-rich blend that helps fight damage caused by free radicals and smooth texture. Yes and yes.

Seven. Cap Beauty The Neat Matcha Sticks. Single-serve matcha packets are my new best friend. They’re perfect for travel; offering the smooth and calm focus — and a boost of antioxidants — of high-quality matcha tea.

Eight. Marvis Toothpaste. If you’re on the nontoxic journey like me, then you’ll know how hard it is to find a great, all natural toothpaste. Marvis is the answer, my friends! I love the flavor and fresh effect of both the Whitening and the Cinnamon flavors — and I have yet to try the Jasmin Mint and Ginger Mint!

Nine. Primally Pure Deodorant. Ah, natural deodorant. I’ve tried A LOT and I’ve nearly given up on the quest for an effective one after trying lots of duds. But Primally Pure has come to the rescue with their Lavender and Charcoal deodorants — they work.

Ten. Colleen Rothschild Daily Defense SPF 25. I’ve been pretty religious about applying SPF lately, and this Colleen Rothschild cream makes it easy. It’s basically a primer that sits perfectly alone or under makeup with its smooth finish.

Eleven. Saturday Skin Featherweight Daily Moisturizing Cream. Another favorite find from my recent Saturday Skin haul, this lightweight body lotion is a DREAM. It’s gentle, absorbs quickly and feels luxurious to the touch. I highly recommend if you’re on the hunt for the perfect warm-weather moisturizer.

Twelve. Kora Skinfood Supplement. You know what they say; beauty comes from the inside out. I’ve recently been obsessed with these convenient single-serve skinfood supplements. They’re packed with nutrients to make you look — and feel — your best. Not only great for digestion, this blend is packed with antioxidants and immune-boosting ingredients. I add this blend to my daily smoothie and am loving it!

Thirteen. Saturday Skin Balancing Act Skin Smoothing Lotion. Okay, I stocked up on the Saturday Skin products, I know! But this lotion was too good not to try. It’s large, reasonably priced, and pleasantly gentle on my skin. It’s lightly scented and is wonderful to apply during my slower nighttime rituals.

Fourteen. Saturday Skin Rise + Shine Purifying Cleanser. How could I forget the cleanser! It’s hard finding a nontoxic, effective face cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture, am I right? This one has you covered; its gentle blend of apple and peach extracts are simply lovely. I’m a huge new fan of this entire skincare line — stock up at Nordstrom!

10 Beautiful Rugs at Every Price Point

From Area Rugs to Runners and More, These Options Are Worth Investing In
Filed Under > Ideas & Inspiration

Rugs are tricky. It always hurts to fork out the money for them, but it’s always, always worth the investment. Skimping on a rug will leave your space looking subpar, especially when you end up sacrificing the size, material and texture that you need.  When you’re looking for a great rug, you want one that will hold up and age well, because you don’t want to be replacing that thing every few years, believe me.  I have one of those Moroccan rugs that sheds every minute of every single day…it’s beautiful, but annoying.  So today, I’m sharing more than a dozen great rugs with some staying power that are worth checking out, no matter how big, or small, your budget.

Included in the bunch are names you’re probably familiar with: Dash & Albert, Loloi, One Kings Lane, Safaveih and Lulu & Georgia.  There’s a reason why these names circulate when buyers are on the hunt for the perfect rug; they make high-quality pieces at reasonable price points.

But sometimes shelling out $900 for an area rug isn’t in the cards.  So that’s why I was also thrilled when I stumbled on Urban Outfitters’ rug collection recently and found that the store offers even more affordable options if you’re looking for a quick statement.  Trends change, tastes change…and with a rug like this one you won’t feel bad swapping it in a few years!

Read on about the rugs that made the cut, and find more great options in the scrolling widget below.  Cheers, Kat

Everything You Need To Set the Thanksgiving Table

From flatware to bar carts turned pie carts I'm sharing my tips for setting your holiday table
Filed Under > Entertaining

Pinecone Candlesticks | Rose Gold Flatware |Gourd Plates |  Wine Glasses | Pumpkin Staub |Emile Henry Ruffled Pie Dish | Emile Henry Baking Dish | Taper Candles

With November basically here I’m officially in full Thanksgiving Dinner prep mode. While I love everything that comes with hosting during the holidays, my favorite part has got to be setting the table for the big dinner itself. And over the years through setting my fair share of tables I’ve learned that no matter what you’re celebrating there’s always a few items that make getting the table holiday ready easier than ever which I thought I’d share with y’all today.

First up, flatware. There’s no better way to dress up a table than with metallic flatware. Gold or rose gold flatware make every dinner party feel a bit more like an occasion, and will be perfect for any and every holiday you celebrate.

A few years ago finding flatware that was any color other than silver was incredibly difficult and often expensive.  Thankfully, that’s no longer the case. For example, the rose gold flatware shown here is only $15 per setting! And this gold set I found is only $65 for an entire 24 piece setting complete with a case! They’re even making disposable sets in gold that look almost like the real thing.

Another signature holiday table move of mine is switching out the salad plates.  Trust me when I say, there’s no one that would rather have enough room to store, or money to spend, on numerous holiday place settings.  If storage or money were of no issue I’d have a new place setting each season! So how do I keep things fresh, while not breaking the bank or bursting at the closet-door-seams…I switch out my salad/dessert plates.

I often start my place setting with my classic white dinner plates and then dress the white up with a festive salad or dessert plate like these gourd plates.  This way your table doesn’t feel like an everyday setting, and you’re not worried about how much you spent, or where you’re going to store them next month.  And trust me this works for every season; I love these ones for Christmas!

A word to the wise, make sure you get round white everyday plates.  I made the mistake of registering for oblong ones when we got married which are awkward and don’t work with any other plate in my cupboard.

Lastly, don’t overcrowd the table.  Thanksgiving, or any dinner party for that matter, should be focused on spending time with the ones you love. Nothing is worse than having a guest more worried about where they’re going to set a dish or if they’re going to spill that bottle of wine, than conversing with their neighbor. How I handle this dilemma is by utilizing my bar cart.

During dinner parties or holiday celebrations, my bar cart is wheeled over to the table where it plays the integral role of both beverage dispenser and pie cart. By keeping both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic bottles off the table it allows for conversation to flow and the guests who talk with their hands like myself, to joyfully recount stories without worrying of knocking anything over.  And I’d much rather have my collection of Staub Pumpkin baking dishes gracing the table rather than empty bottles of wine.  Plus doesn’t the cart make the most perfect setting for all the holiday pies?

And much like the flatware I spoke about earlier, bar carts are extremely reasonably priced now.  I like this one and this one if you’re looking for your cart to serve in more of this capacity than full-time bar.

So whether it’s your first time hosting, or you’re an old pro, I hope sharing my go-to entertaining tips helped. And most importantly I hope your Thanksgiving is full of what’s truly important: family, friends, great food, and plenty of thankfulness.  Truly, MKR
