A Spring Spruce Up

stepping into spring with ebay
Filed Under > Get The Look

With pollen season in Atlanta officially behind us, I’m ready to throw open my doors and welcome spring with open arms.  You see spring is my favorite season. There’s something just so fresh and renewing that comes with spring.

For me, along with welcoming warmer weather spring is also about spring cleaning and sprucing up my home.  I spend at least three weekends going through my entire house and taking stock of what I have. Donating what I no longer love.  Organizing what I do. And freshening up the spaces I live in most.

While this is a spring time ritual for me, this year it was fun to partner with Ebay to invite spring into my most lived in room during eBay’s”liven up your living room event.”

I love shopping with Ebay because I’m able to find those new, trending pieces I crave and also vintage pieces I love adding to my collection. Plus did you know that 68% of items on eBay ship for free?!?!

To freshen and lighten up my living room I added a few new items and switched up a few old.  I folded up and put away my heavier blankets and throws until next season and replaced them with more appropriate ones like this and this.  I also snagged a great seagrass basket to store them all in along with pillows at the edge of my sofa.

I updated my coffee table with a new vintage found vase from Italy filled with the mascot of spring, tulips.  And while I wasn’t searching for him, I couldn’t turn down this brass turtle.  I mean how adorable is he perched on my favorite coffee table books!

While I never believe you can have too much greenery, that thought never rings more true than in spring.  So along with the tulips I added a topiary in a bright green vase.  The combo really makes the room come alive, and topiaries are so easy to care for.

Lastly, I added a few additional calligraphy brushes to round out my collection and complete my coffee table.  Which coincidentally I got from Ebay years ago.

These few simple changes really spruced up the space and made it feel like spring had arrived both inside and out.  Truly, MKR

Must Know…Coleen & Company

I’m obsessed with lighting.  Like truly, madly, deeply obsessed.  When moving in to our new house this past December I took out every light fixture and added new ones.  I mean lighting transforms a room.  Lighting is like a great pair of shoes, or bag to an outfit, it completely makes or breaks it.  And in many cases lighting is a piece of art.

Case in point Coleen and Company.  Talk about artful lighting.  I’m seriously swooning.  Every piece is the perfect juxtaposition of whimsy and uber chicness.  There literally isn’t a piece I wouldn’t purchase.  And one of the best things is they come in almost every color of the rainbow.  So you know that pop of color you were looking to add to some room in your home, congratulations I’ve just found it for you.

I mean can you even handle the tole tent flush mount in my favorite color orange and completed with a tassel?  Or what about the leafy chandelier? It’s just begging to be placed in some darling girls room or a Palm Beach-esque sitting/sun room.  And the scalloped lantern comes in a tortoise pattern!  And there’s not just lighting.  Can you even handle this hand-painted turquoise tortoise coffee table?

Anyway, it’s a healthy obsession I promise you.  I just need more rooms now to decorate…maybe it’s time to start house hunting!?  Happy Monday Loves! xo

Home Sweet Dorm With Pottery Barn Teen

dorm room ideas with pottery barn teen

When Pottery Barn Teen reached out and asked me to create a dream dorm room for them I jumped at the chance.  You see I loved college.  It was maybe not the best time of my life as I have a lot of life left, but it was hands down the most fun time in my life.  And any chance I get to revisit that time, those memories, the moments…well you don’t have to ask me twice.  Ironically enough when I was in college a lot of my dorm room actually consisted of Pottery Barn items, though I’m pretty sure PB teen wasn’t around yet and I’m now officially aging myself.

Anyway, when gathering inspiration for my dorm room and perusing the PB Teen site I of course fell in love with the image above because there’s an Addy in it.  But just to be clear this wanna-be Addy is no where as cute as the real thing.  So back to the image…I was initially drawn to the soft tones and touches of gold.  I’m having a major gold moment.  However, it wouldn’t be me without a punch or two of color.  So to warm it up a notch I brought in coral paint and white paisley wall decals (perfect for dorm rooms or apartment rentals) and the flamingo print which I’m completely obsessed with and would hang in my home now.  Then to cool down the warm tones just a tad, an aqua mini fridge (the cutest thing you’ve ever seen) and this desk lamp did the trick.  Finish with metallic golds and textured whites and ivory to add depth and you have a room that feels completely like me.  And that’s the trick when living in a temporary space.  Take the time and infuse your personal style and what matters to you.  It may not be home sweet home, but it will be home sweet dorm.

Get the full look HERE, along with so many others at PB Teen who I owe a huge thanks to for letting me take a walk back in time, go Braves!  Love In Chi-O And Mine, MKR (I had to!)

P.S.  I would be amiss by not talking about the giant pouf of a marshmallow desk chair.  I mean can you even handle it!?!
