Saturday Skin, Primally Pure and more nontoxic favorites | Waiting on Martha

The change of seasons brings about even more reason to give your skin a little TLC. You’ll quickly sense a moisturizing-obsessed theme here too; I’m giving extra attention to the hydrating and nourishing products that make me feel my best all over.

I recently went on a little spree with Saturday Skin — isn’t the packaging beautiful? And of course, I’ve been finishing my Colleen Rothschild favorites, too. Read about these current go-to’s below, and tell me if you’ve tried any, and what you think! Truly, MKR

One. Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil. I’m a huge fan of Weleda; it’s an affordable, nontoxic brand that’s easy to find (hello, Target) and boasts effective products to boot. This cellulite oil helps tone and firm up the skin, using natural essential oils. You won’t find any fragrance, added color or preservatives in this nourishing and moisturizing oil.

Two. One Love Organics Love + Charcoal Mask. One of my favorite things about OLO products is how hydrating they are. This luxurious mask uses aloe vera and charcoal to detox the skin, cleansing it but never drying it out. If you’re on the lookout for the perfect mask, you’ve got to try this one.

Three. Saturday Skin Wide Awake Brightening Cream. I gravitate to all eye creams and balms as I’ve found my eyes to show my age. I recently tried a bundle of Saturday Skin products — they had me on their packaging!) and was pleasantly surprised to find the cream to be great at reducing puffiness. Its smooth application is refreshing and lovely.

Four. Colleen Rothschild Sheer Renewal Cream. A lightweight, sheer, non-greasy moisturizer? Sign me up. I’ve since emptied this Colleen Rothschild cream and going back for more! It hasn’t caused any breakouts; instead, it’s left my skin happy and glowing. I love to wear it as a deep hydrating cream when I head to bed.

Five. Herbivore Botanicals Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask. It wouldn’t be “Me Time” without a cooling face mask. There’s just something so satisfying about applying a mask that you can truly FEEL doing its magic on the skin. This blue wonder by Herbivore Botanicals is a bestseller at Waiting on Martha Home, and for obvious reason. #obsessed

Six. Kiel’s ‘Superbly Restorative’ Argan Body Lotion. Are you sensing a theme here? I’m obsessed with moisturizing my skin all over, especially as we hop into spring. I love this cult-classic body lotion for its ability to absorb into the skin quickly. It has Moroccan argan oil to thank for its antioxidant-rich blend that helps fight damage caused by free radicals and smooth texture. Yes and yes.

Seven. Cap Beauty The Neat Matcha Sticks. Single-serve matcha packets are my new best friend. They’re perfect for travel; offering the smooth and calm focus — and a boost of antioxidants — of high-quality matcha tea.

Eight. Marvis Toothpaste. If you’re on the nontoxic journey like me, then you’ll know how hard it is to find a great, all natural toothpaste. Marvis is the answer, my friends! I love the flavor and fresh effect of both the Whitening and the Cinnamon flavors — and I have yet to try the Jasmin Mint and Ginger Mint!

Nine. Primally Pure Deodorant. Ah, natural deodorant. I’ve tried A LOT and I’ve nearly given up on the quest for an effective one after trying lots of duds. But Primally Pure has come to the rescue with their Lavender and Charcoal deodorants — they work.

Ten. Colleen Rothschild Daily Defense SPF 25. I’ve been pretty religious about applying SPF lately, and this Colleen Rothschild cream makes it easy. It’s basically a primer that sits perfectly alone or under makeup with its smooth finish.

Eleven. Saturday Skin Featherweight Daily Moisturizing Cream. Another favorite find from my recent Saturday Skin haul, this lightweight body lotion is a DREAM. It’s gentle, absorbs quickly and feels luxurious to the touch. I highly recommend if you’re on the hunt for the perfect warm-weather moisturizer.

Twelve. Kora Skinfood Supplement. You know what they say; beauty comes from the inside out. I’ve recently been obsessed with these convenient single-serve skinfood supplements. They’re packed with nutrients to make you look — and feel — your best. Not only great for digestion, this blend is packed with antioxidants and immune-boosting ingredients. I add this blend to my daily smoothie and am loving it!

Thirteen. Saturday Skin Balancing Act Skin Smoothing Lotion. Okay, I stocked up on the Saturday Skin products, I know! But this lotion was too good not to try. It’s large, reasonably priced, and pleasantly gentle on my skin. It’s lightly scented and is wonderful to apply during my slower nighttime rituals.

Fourteen. Saturday Skin Rise + Shine Purifying Cleanser. How could I forget the cleanser! It’s hard finding a nontoxic, effective face cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture, am I right? This one has you covered; its gentle blend of apple and peach extracts are simply lovely. I’m a huge new fan of this entire skincare line — stock up at Nordstrom!

Beauty Bag

One of the beauties of getting older (if you can call it a beauty) is developing a skin care regime, and your go-to beauty essentials.  I have horribly sensitive, combination skin so it has taken me years to even find products that I can tolerate let alone products that I love.  So with that small amount of wisdom that comes with trial and error I thought I’d share my ever evolving list of what’s in my beauty bag.  xoxo

Coconut Oil Beauty Bag waitingonmartha.com

  1. Kinerase…I have extremely sensitive skin and this is the only moisturizer I’ve EVER found that actually moisturizes without clogging my pores and breaking me out
  2. SK II Facial Essence…hands down the BEST product I’ve ever found.  I use this every morning and night before moisturizer and I don’t really know what it does other than give my skin a great glow.  I put it on my neck and hands as well because I read of it’s amazing anti aging effects, and again not sure how it does it, or why, but my skin glows…GLOWS people!
  3. Seche Clear…a classic, must have perfect nail topcoat.
  4. Sundari Chamomile Eye Oil…I have large eyes that aren’t going to age well so I’m taking every precaution I can now and my current obsession is this eye oil.
  5. Bare Minerals Foundation and Bronzer…again I have sensitive skin and this offers the perfect coverage and a built in SPF.
  6. Marc Jacobs Cosmetic Bag…fun and functional.
  7. Leaf & Rusher Roller…this strange little device has 190 teeny tiny needles that when rolled gently over the skin is said to help increase collagen and release toxins.  Again not sure how it works but I swear it does!
  8. Organic Grapeseed Oil a.k.a. my shave gel…I’ve never found a shave gel that moisturizes like grape seed oil.  I promise, once you try it you’ll never use a shave gel, cream, or lotion again.
  9. Organic Coconut Oil…I use this rather than body lotion.  Not only does it smell amazing, I mean it is edible, it locks in moisture like nothing else.
  10. Clairsonic Cleansing Brush...if you haven’t heard of this you’ve been living under a rock.  Believe the hype, it’s the perfect cleansing brush.
  11. La Mer Eye Concentrate…back to the prevention of eye bags.  I’ve tried all of the expensive, typical eye creams and La Mer still comes out on top.

One Sheet Pan Herb Crusted Salmon with Garlicky Green Beans & Cherry Tomatoes

A seasonal favorite with a super easy clean-up

One sheet herb crusted salmon recipe by @waitingonmarthaHerb crusted salmon with green beans and cherry tomatoes, recipe @waitingonmartha

When any meal I make tastes good I celebrate.  When any meal I make tastes good, looks way more difficult than it actually is to create, and is crazy easy to clean up I dance a little jig in unedited pure joy.  Really, I do dance a little jig.  And that little jig is currently happening thanks to my drool-worthy, uber healthy, one sheet pan salmon with garlicky green beans and cherry tomatoes.

It’s a delightful recipe to have up your sleeve, as it’s just as easy as it is elegant.  It makes for a wonderfully elevated weeknight meal (we’re still making weeknight meals a priority), while also serving as an instant crowd-pleaser for any dinner party. And while I’m not personally a huge salmon fan, even I can always be tempted with one of these herb crusted, wild-caught salmon filets alongside some of my favorite vibrant, seasonal veggies.

For today’s one sheet pan salmon, I topped the salmon filets with an homemade herb mixture of minced garlic, chopped parsley, thyme, oregano, basil, a little rosemary and olive oil from my herb garden (check out our easy indoor herb garden tutorial). I then added fresh, farmers market green beans and heirloom cherry tomatoes onto the sheet with the salmon filets.  You can, of course, include any of your favorite seasonal vegetables here; I like to use whatever I’ve picked up in my farmers market haul from the weekend before.

In true one-sheet-pan form, I baked everything on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, which preserves my sheet pan and allows for the easiest clean up.  Plus there’s just something about how well all of these flavors bake and meld together that really just makes this an A+ all around. Tell me, do you think you’ll give my one sheet pan salmon a go?  Truly, MKR
