The Brand Market Workshop Atlanta

Back in November you may recall I had the great pleasure of speaking at my gal pal Anna’s (In Honor of Design) The Brand Market Workshop.  While I’d gladly join Anna in practically any endeavor she’s undertaking I was especially fired up (nod to my cheerleading days) to speak about branding.  At the core of everything and every arm of Martha is our brand and it’s message, “creating a beautiful everyday.”  So to be able to talk passionately about branding to other creatives was right in my wheel house.  Not to mention it was the first Brand Market Workshop and there’s something about the first of anything.  Though at the time it’s always stressful because you don’t know what lies ahead and what bumps you’ll incur, but that’s the fun of it.  You eventually look back and laugh and reminisce at the “remember this time” and the “we had no idea what we were getting into” memories.  Life is all about learning right?

Anyway, I’m getting off track…back to the workshop.  In Anna’s own words, ” The Brand Market was born out of a passion and desire to enable creative entrepreneurs to make their big dreams an achievable reality.  Each workshop is taught by a series of creatives with expertise in their field and focuses on making your brand and site stand out by diving into the essentials of branding, marketing, and photography styling skills.”  And since Atlanta was a huge success, and such an amazing experience it’s happening again!  So get ready Atlanta, March 15th we’re coming for you and registration is now officially open.  And if you’re not in Atlanta no worries, Anna’s taking the show on the road and will be headed to Raleigh and NYC this spring/summer.  Will I be seeing you in March?   TGIF Loves!  truly, MKR

P.S.  Seats are limited so hurry and sign up now!

November's Guest Curator…Emily Ley

Well Loves, it’s the start of a new month, November, can you hardly believe it?  Which means it’s time to introduce y’all to our newest guest curator, and honestly I couldn’t be more thrilled with who we have gracing our Shop this month.  Mrs. Emily Ley.  One of the best, and most unexpected parts of my job is meeting and forging these amazing relationships with some of our Shop’s vendors, and Emily definitely has a place in my heart.  Obviously I love her “simplified” yet gorgeous designs (wait till you see her newest gem that’ll be gracing our virtual shelves later this month), but really it’s her Southern charm and the truly honest way she shares her family focused life with all that wins me, and thousands of others over.

Emily began designing many years ago – “with a box of colored envelopes and the fanciest fonts on the block.” And now The Emily Ley brand has grown into something that “sets her heart on fire.”  In her own words, “I don’t design all of this just because I love gorgeous monograms or fresh, preppy patterns and colors. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take a crisp circle monogram on just about anything (just ask my husband!) but really it’s about making life just a little sweeter…let’s simplify life so that we can take care of our need-tos and focus on our want-tos. Let’s ditch that standard of perfection and embrace a simpler, more family-focused lifestyle. Let’s focus on what really matters. And let’s have a little more fun!”  I mean seriously, doesn’t she sound like a gal we all need to know?

You can shop her collection HERE through the month of November, and to help everyone have a little more fun we’re offering 15% off the ENTIRE Shop through the 10th with code EMILYLEY15.  Now don’t we wish all Fridays could start like this?  TGIF Loves.  truly, MKR

Oh Homespun, you had us at homemade tart.  As big fans of anything involving buttery, flaky streusel crumbs and sweet gooey filling, we knew we’d be in for a treat with this heavenly take on Pear & Apple Crumb tart.

One of my favorite parts about this recipe is that it calls for basics you already have in your pantry, along with a few crisp Granny Smith apples and tasty Bosc pears. I’ll be the first to admit that when I see a dessert recipe with countless complicated ingredients, I bow out more often than not. But this recipe, I assure you, is worthy of pulling out again and again.

Though properly enjoyed as the perfect warm compliment to your favorite seasonal meal (like Homespun’s Braised Honey Pork Shoulder), it’s tempting to sneak into the kitchen to warm up a slice of this wonderful pear & apple tart in the morning, too…I know I’m guilty of doing it!  Cheers, Kat
