If you’ve been on this journey with me for the last couple of years then you probably already know all about my favorite weekend refuge, the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds at Lake Oconee. Being only an a hour and a half away from Atlanta, its the place I run to whenever I need to unplug and unwind. And while there are many reasons why I consider it my happy place, I think the main one is it it gets me as close to that pure Michigan feeling of home without actually hoping on a plane.
So when Garden & Gun invited me to join them on Friday, Sept. 23rd, for a little weekend getaway, I was all in. Not like I needed much convincing, but the weekend’s lineup was pretty perfect: a Friday evening bluegrass barbecue featuring pit master John Lewis, Saturday breakfast at Georgia’s Bistro, an afternoon boat cruise to Sandy Creek Barn, a culinary demonstration inspired by The Southerner’s Cookbook, lunch by the water, a bourbon master class with the guys behind The Bourbon Review, and a Saturday evening full of cocktails, live music, and a seated dinner followed by s’mores (duh!!!) and fireworks on the lawn. And of course it wouldn’t really be a G&G weekend unless we topped it ALL off with a Southern Sunday brunch to fill our bellies before going home.
And while you’re probably already convinced that this is a trip needed to be booked, he best news is that G&G is giving WOM readers 20% OFF the total weekend package! Simply email Tiffany Porter at tiffany.porter@ritzcarlton.com and mention Waiting on Martha for 20% off the total package when booking. Tell me friends, will you be joining me for a little culinary celebration with music, bourbon and lake views?! Truly, MKR
