Even though I live and work in an extremely creative environment, I find I still get in a creative rut from time to time.  What helps?  Finding a creative outlet outside my comfort zone.  Recently, that looked like a painting class from the talented (and lovely) Britt Bass Turner.

Truthfully, I thought I had simply signed up for a day of painting, drinking mimosas and gabbing; which we did of course.  But I also gained so much practical knowledge.  From the types and different characteristics of paint, blending, painting techniques, and even a little history.  And while I may be a creative person in some arenas, I am in no way a great creative painter, sketcher, or drawer, so I was surprised I found the whole experience freeing, and even more so – quite calming.  I wasn’t thinking about what had to be done later that day, or deadlines I was up against.  The only thing on my mind was what colors I was creating and pattern I was painting.

In Britt’s own words, she designed the workshop to be a completely hands-on, fun place to explore and enjoy the process of play.  Providing an avenue to share and support the power of community.  Though Britt is now only offering 4 quarterly STUDIO SESH classes a year (sign up for her newsletter to find out when the next dates are released), she does offer STUDIO SESH IN A BOX.  SS in a box provides you all the materials and education you would receive in class, minus Britt of course.

So whether it be painting, drawing, dancing, cooking, or anything else that opens you up and inspires, I urge you all to push your limits and find a place to create.  Tell me, do you have a creative outlet?  Truly, MKR

On our last cold, snow filled day in Atlanta I bundled up in my favorite blue faux fur jacket (which is on major sale) and my current obsession New Balance sneaks (I’ve always been a Nike gal) and made my way over to Britt Bass Turner’s Studio Studio.  There I met nine other lovely ladies, and settled in for a day filled with instruction, painting, bubbles, and a lot of Katy Perry.  The day was exactly the break from reality that I needed to recharge my creative batteries.  I’ll be sharing more about the actual class on Monday, but until then, happy Saturday Loves!  Truly, MKR

Easy accesories The best investment bag Easy style with accessories Add personality to your outfit Easy accessories Sherpa vest and statement necklace
Somedays it’s all about easy accessories. Pieces that add automatic interest to your outfit and showcase your personal style. Accessories are a chance to be a little more daring after all, even if you usually play it safe wardrobe speaking. This everyday uniform of mine includes all of the standards…the jeans I can’t stop wearing, my favorite hat, a signature button down (which is on MAJOR sale), and a bold statement necklace. And my Celine bag, though expensive, should be a frontrunner if you’re in the market for an investment bag. I’ve had it for five years and it’s still kicking. Ray-Bans I’ve found are always guaranteed to fit under a hat (which you may laugh but that’s very important). Lastly, how could I not mention my Res Ispa shoes?! Handmade from 100-year old rugs, each pair is completely custom, and are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever worn. Plus they’re local, and I just adore the gentleman of Res Ispa, Josh and Odini.  Truly, MKR
