I’m a firm believer that one can never, ever go wrong with black.  An all black outfit is as effortlessly cool as it is consistently comfortable…you just know you’ll feel great in it all day. And with all black outfits on rotation calls for elevated basics that can serve as “Forever Pieces” in my closet.

I’ve talked about investing in “Forever Pieces” before, and today’s outfit is made up entirely of just that: a black leather jacket, tailored black pants, classic black pumps, a favorite pair of sunnies and a great handbag. All are simply timeless.

I love dressing down the sharp black pants and patent pumps with the rugged, too-cool-for-school detailing on my ALLSAINTS black leather jacket (who’s having a MAJOR sale on leather right now!). And you’ve heard me say that when I like something, I like something, and have been known to stock up on a few pairs of the same thing just because I know I’ll reach for it for years to come… Well that case in point: black pants by Theory. They are just as comfortable as they are stylish, and they truly go with everything. 

I call these my “Forever Pieces” because their good lines and exceptional quality ensures that they don’t become those transient pieces that never see next season (or outside your closet!).  These pieces in fact simplify my wardrobe; I don’t complain about having nothing to wear when I know I can reach for these tried-and-true wardrobe staples. More than anything I love being cozy.  Like bundled up with a blanket in front of a roaring fire while snow falls quietly outside and the red wine keeps flowing…that would be my definition of cozy.  So probably more than anything, more than the shoes, and the bags, and the hats, when the weather turns crisp I gravitate towards my very favorite cooler weather piece…sweaters.  And this year I’m so beyond thrilled to say that a closet staple of mine, the sweatshirt, has gotten a very fancy makeover which literally puts me over the moon.  So here are my top picks…understand that I do sweaters that are pretty tame in comparison to the majority of  wardrobe as I see them as a classic investment to be worn for years to come.  Oh and though this one didn’t make the collage due to trying to find the right pic, it will end up in my closet.  No question asked.  TGIF Loves!  truly, MKR.

For me this season it’s all about the hats…especially the baseball cap which makes me so happy since I wear baseball caps on a weekly basis.  Though I’m loving that they’ve gotten a very fashion forward makeover for the season.  Plus my favorite color (wine/oxblood/burgundy/bordeaux) keeps making an appearance.  And I’ll pretty much buy anything with Uncle Karl on it.  Happy Thursday Loves!  truly, MKR
