Happy Sunday friends! To get you in the pinning spirit (because if you’re like me, Sunday is a big Pinterest day for ya), I rounded up the breakfast nooks that currently have me doing ALL of the heart eye emojis right now. By the look of these, it’s clear to see that this functional everyday space can be just as stunning as comfortable and welcoming. These inspiring photos have made it clear to me that a beautiful breakfast nooks require a few key things: plenty of throw pillows, a pair of statement chairs (to go with your L-shaped bench) and a show-stopping chandy or pendant. Cheers, Kat

Breakfast Nook #1
This inviting space offers styled seating fit for any time of day. Plenty of throw pillows give the cushioned bench added comfort.
A breakfast nook that's as functional as it is beautiful will keep things simple, but won't skimp on the details. A lantern pendant and a pair of mid-century chairs take this everyday space to the next level.
This laid-back and cool California-style breakfast nook offers easy comfort to a small space. And the lightweight round pedestal table easily lends itself to scooting as guests fill around the table.
This sunny breakfast nook is a great dining solution for tight quarters, thanks to a small pedestal table (probably used typically as an end table) and wrap-around cushioned bench.
There’s just something about curated inspiration boards (or mood boards if you will) that gets me. Besides the obvious fact that a working bulletin board helps with organization in the workspace—with calendar reminders, business cards and phone numbers to call—a board also double as some of the best office art. It’s personalized to only you, and it’s TOTALLY affordable!
With an attention to detail, an appreciation for aesthetics and of course fun accents (like these gorgeous gold clips) to tie it all together, an inspiration board can be truly show-stopping. Our office inspiration boards (pictured above and also seen in the full feature here) kick it up a notch with DIY fabric-covered boards, which have proven to be a beautiful focal point in the space. And as you’ll see in these additional photos in the slideshow above, great inspiration boards give any workspace a more energized feel, with creativity bursting with each pin-worthy item. There’s even beauty in the messy, half-created inspiration boards just as much as the perfectly edited and designed ones! Cheers, Kat

While Atlanta Food & Wine Festival‘s pop-up urban vineyard was show-stopping, the next night was just as magical. With the help of the Lee brothers and Blooms of Dunwoody, we set an absolutely stunning Asian inspired dinner for the festival’s Connoisseur Dinner Series on the Loews Hotel rooftop. The theme for the evening celebrated and explored the Asian influence on Southern food, and offered a multi-course meal with award-winning wine and cocktail pairings with each dish. And just to walk you through the vision of our Asian inspired dinner: we were literally surrounded by a concrete, mirrored, glass jungle, and we then created a zen-like oasis with paper lanterns and live orchid garland hanging from a chuppah canopy made of live birch trees. #Swoon.
The setup, however, didn’t go off without a hitch (like most outdoor events, am I right?!). The rooftop proved to be incredibly windy (I mean WINDY) and we watched with panic in our eyes as the chuppah swayed from side to side with each new gust. We quickly brought in sand bags and stabilized the canopy, but the wind was so strong that we all had to make an executive decision to bring the long dining tables inside for guests.
To my relief, the result was just as magical; guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside to then join along long dining tables in clean white linens stretched down the inside hall, adorned with simple votive candles and low, airy white florals snaking down the expanse of the table.
When recreating this event (on a smaller scale, I expect!), consider simple linens and monochromatic florals for an understated, yet elevated effect. And while big centerpieces are always beautiful, the short, square glass vases were the perfect vessels for the florals because they didn’t risk obstructing the view around the table. This is a great thing to keep in mind if you’re hoping for conversation to be flowing (just as much as the wine) at your dinner party. And of course, placing votive candles (the long-lasting ones!!!) is one of my favorite, easy and affordable ways to bring the magic by soft candlelight to any tabletop. Truly, MKR
