Earlier this week, we shared a cheerful brunch tablescape that’s perfect for those lazy Sunday mornings. As promised, here’s my super easy cheesy hashbrown casserole recipe, which I assure you, will be quickly devoured by all.  As you’ll see below, the recipe includes a generous helping of sharp cheddar cheese, green peppers, onions, shredded potatoes, and of course, jalapeños. But remember, like any great casserole, this can be made the night before, and really allows for you throw in anything you want…so get creative with your hashbrown casserole by adding whatever else you have on hand, and enjoy sleeping in a bit longer this weekend.  Enjoy!  Truly, MKR

Spiced Apple And Pear Crisp

Apple and Pear Crisp gets a healthy makeover with a good dose of spice and Nourish Snacks for a topping

Spiced Apple and Pear Crisp recipe, Waiting on MarthaA Healthy Apple Crisp with Hearty Pear and Nourish Snacks for the Crunch! | Waiting on Martha

As the temps begin to drop, and Fall quickly approaches, I remember just how much I look forward to and cherish this time of year.  The crisp Fall air, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything…the warmth of this season is hard for anyone to ignore.  And along with all of the warmth are flavors that truly embody Fall for me, and topping that list of course, is apple. Growing up, my mom made the best homemade apple crisp, and it only seems appropriate that I welcome my favorite season with a take on my favorite childhood treat.

While mom’s classic apple crisp never included pear, it’s always nice to switch things up and offer a different take on a classic.  Enter pear.  I’ve always loved pear’s hearty and dense texture and combined with my beloved apples and seven different spices, including cayenne and fresh vanilla bean, this crisp truly brings all the warmth that fall encompasses.  And I mean, how precious is an apple crisp in an apple dish?!?!

Now I did mention this recipe is a healthy spiced pear and apple crisp.  Instead of your typical flour-based and sugary topping I utilized the crunch of Nourish Snacks without the calories of a typical crisp.  You may remember I’ve subbed out ingredients for Nourish’s gluten-free, non GMO, snacks before (our Super Simple Cocoa & Fruit Parfaits are a must-try!), and for this particular recipe the combination of Nourish’s Apple Cinn-sational and Berry’d Treasure completely compliment the crisp and provide that crunch I crave.  And let us not forget, by taking the healthy topping route it allows us to splurge on the vanilla bean ice cream that every crisp really deserves.  So tell me, how will you be welcoming Fall this year?  Truly, MKR

Caramelized French Onion Dip With Kettle Cooked Chips

A junk food favorite, french onion dip, is elevated by making it from scratch with caramelized onions and homemade kettle chips.

Homemade French Onion Dip with Kettle Cooked Chips recipe, Waiting on Martha

When I’m in the mood for junk food, my go-to will forever and always be Dean’s French Onion Dip and Ruffle’s Potato Chips (well, and French Fries, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Watermelons and Flaming Hot Cheetos). But when I’m specifically craving that salty crunch, I know I’ve got to get my hands on chips and dip stat.

I like to think of my recipe for Caramelized French Onion Dip with Homemade Kettle Cooked Chips as an elevated version, if you will, of my go-to snack.  Since it’s homemade french onion dip, I say it’s a perfectly acceptable appetizer to serve at your next party. Come Fall, I know I’ll be dishing out this winning kettle cooked chips and homemade dip combo all football season long (along with tailgate-worthy drinks of course).

Also known as the perfect tailgating snack in my household, it keeps guests happy even if there’s a fumble on the play. And if there’s ever any left over (doubtful), you can rest assured that I’ll finish up the dip and kettle cooked chips in my pajamas in bed. Enjoy!  Truly, MKR
