I’ve always been a fan of a great at-home bar. I strongly believe it’s a must-learn life skill to mix up classic cocktails, and as an avid host, it’s important to provide an array...
Looking back on Easter as a child, I remember how excited I was to dig through my Easter basket. Full of chocolate bunnies, malt ball Easter eggs, Peeps, golden coins, and my favorite Cadbury...

If you read THIS then you know I’m really focusing on reigning in my current binge like habits for a walk on the healthier side of things. And one of those habits that I’m focused on is snacking smartly. For me when it comes to snacking I fall into two very classic scenarios. When working from my home studio I become a food grazer (food grazer being one who eats a little bit here and there all day). It’s said being a grazer is actually the healthiest was to live, that is when you’re grazing on anything other than ice cream, cupcakes, or whatever sugary or salty recipe I’m creating that day. On the flip side when I’m out on set styling a shoot, traveling, or anything that takes me away from my studio I tend not to eat all day so when 6:00 o’clock rolls around I’m so hangry (hungry + angry) I show no restraint at dinner which usually means pizza and wine. Both scenarios I’m sure relatable to most all of you out there, and both scenarios I’ve found can be answered with a simple plan to snack smartly. Enter Nourish Snacks. My new go-to for healthy snacks.
Joy Bauer,Nutrition Expert on the Today Show dreamed up Nourish Snacks to “create a convenient way to enjoy delicious, good-for-you snacks every day.” And by good for you she means simple, healthy ingredients with no GMOs, no artificial colors or sweeteners, no harmful preservatives, and most importantly no more than 200 calories per pack. You can subscribe and receive a box each week, or simply shop a la carte. They’re the perfect size to stash in my purse for long days away from the studio and there are SO many snack combos to choose from you’ll never get bored. While I like each and every one I’ve tried (no joke, I like them all), I’d have to say my favorites are Chili’n In The Corn’r,Cashew Colada, and PB Jammin’. Eat Happy! truly, MKR

As I was scrolling through what seemed like a million plus pictures on my camera the other day I stumbled across these gems and realized I never chatted about my experience at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. I blame this momentary loss of memory on the temporary high I was on from eating and cocktailing my way through the South for 3 solid days. AFWF shouldn’t even be called a festival, it should be called an experience.
The weekend kicked off with breakfast in the connoisseur lounge which was a stunning design collaboration between Ballard Designs and William Peace of Peace Design. Peace called the design a play on coastal living, I simply asked if I could move in tomorrow. Once we were properly satiated with bloody marys and biscuits the day “officially” kicked off with a champagne toast by founders Dominique Love and Elizabeth Feichter. Then the madness began as everyone rushed upstairs, downstairs, outside, or to wherever their first class began. I of course gravitated towards any and all wine seminars. I tasted 90+ wines with Michael McNeill, Master Sommelier, (did you know there are only 219 Master Sommeliers in the world?!). Learned how to cold smoke on the Big Green Egg with Todd Richards. Decided I should really consider buying a villa in Tuscany (duh) with Brancaia. Was challenged by Whiskey with Struan Grant Ralph. And spent hours upon hours in the tasting tents.
All in all the weekend was one for the books and a must for any food and wine loving soul. My calendars are already marked for AFWF 2015! TGIF Loves. truly, MKR

By the time most of you read this I’ll be wheels up beginning day 1 of my 12 day wine county adventure with Ma(i)sonry and Orison Wines. If you’re a regular reader of the blog then you’d know I’m a big (BIG) lover of wine so I couldn’t have been more thrilled when Orison and Maisonry wanted to collaborate on a best of Napa Valley piece. I’ve been to Napa a few times, but I don’t think anything can rival what we have planned. And while I can’t divulge too much as I’ll be sharing all of my thoughts when I get back I wanted to at least share a few what-to/how-to pack tips with y’all. So without further ado, and before I’m 3 cabernets deep, my 5 favorite packing tips. And fair warning…my Instagram feed will be nothing but California sunshine and grapes as far as the eye can see the next 2 weeks. Cheers! truly, MKR
No. 1 – Garment racks are your friends. When I began styling I purchased a few rolling garment racks and now I could not imagine packing (or my every day) without them. They’re great for planning outfits and corralling all of your items in one place.
No. 2 – It’s all about the mini. When regulations changed and didn’t allow anything over 3.4 oz. carried on it made all of beauty begin creating products in a smaller/travel size which saves a TON of room when packing. I mean nothing takes up more suitcase space than my every day 20+ oz. can of hairspray or hair volumizer! So I now buy everything you can in the smaller size and keep them in my beauty bag so all I have to do is grab and go. I even got my tanning lotion in a mini…how convenient is that?! And if you’re only carrying on might I suggest storing everything in one of these to make security a breeze.
No. 3 – Expect the unexpected. When traveling anything can happen; delays, lost luggage, bumps, etc., so best to be prepared. If you’re checking luggage always carry on your must have beauty products, change of under garments, 1 change of clothing, a bathing suit (if you’re going somewhere beach like all you need is a bathing suit), a back up charger, and a comfortable pair of shoes (I travel everywhere with these in my purse).

No. 4 – Create an itinerary. Wether it be in your Google calendar, printed out and in your purse, or set up in Outlook have an itinerary with all pertinent addresses and phone numbers (hotels, rental cars, restaurants, etc.) easily accessible. And make sure any travel companions have a copy, as well as anyone back home that may need to get in touch with you in case of emergency.
No. 5 – Be in the moment. I’ve lost a lot of peace, a lot of moments to trying to capture them or freeze them in time. To being stuck to a plan. To not being willing to take the unchartered path. No more my Loves. Traveling is all about the adventure. And while yes you have to be planned, you have to be ready, you have to pose for those pics so you can record them forever you also have to be willing to throw it all away and go on the grand journey. Because every day, wether it be on vacation or during your daily commute to work, is a day you’ll never get back so you might as well enjoy the ride.
