6 Ways to Enjoy the Long Holiday Weekend in Style
Filed Under > Entertaining

This time of year is always bittersweet for me; I am always bummed to see the sweet summer days and warm nights come to an end. I know fall isn’t so bad – football season (go vols!) and fall fashion are always great – but there’s just something about summer that resonates more with me.

This long holiday weekend is the perfect time to savor the end of summer and squeeze it for all its worth before we look to fall.  Click through the slideshow above to find my six suggestions on how you can savor the easy end-of-summer vibes. The weekend calls for a little entertaining, some seasonal flavors, the perfect sun dress…and what else?  Comment below for how you say sayonara to summer.  We’ll see you on Tuesday. Cheers, Kat

Outdoor Entertaining Ideas We Love

One of my favorite things about warm summer nights is the feeling when you realize there is nowhere else you’d rather be.  I know that sounds pretty vague, but I feel that on the nights I find myself sitting around a table with a handful of friends or family and a great meal.  Whether I’m sitting around picking at the appetizers and catching up, or leaning my chair back and pouring another glass of wine after finishing the meal, those moments are some of the best parts of summer I cherish the most.

We talk about entertaining a lot here on WOM, but there’s something extra special about outdoor entertaining.  It’s more relaxed, more casual and more intimate to me. I rounded up a few outdoor entertaining ideas I love from our files in the slideshow above, but do tell me: what’s your favorite way to host your loved ones on these warm summer nights?  Cheers, Kat

Atlanta Food & Wine: Powerful & Deliciously Tasted

When I was invited to style a dinner celebrating 100 of the most influential women in the South made by some of the most powerful women chefs for Atlanta Food and Wine Festival, I couldn’t jump on board soon enough. Cator Woolford Gardens at the Frazer Center proved to be the perfect location to wine and dine these impressive ladies, and we were thrilled to kick off our festival weekend with such a special event.

Despite the storms rolling into Atlanta, and a moment when we wondered if we were going to get everything pulled off, a beautiful evening unfolded amidst twinkle lights, lush floral centerpieces by Lindsay Coletta, favors of Himalayan pink salt, and Jenn’s gorgeous watercolor menus and hand-lettered place cards for all.

The rest of the weekend’s storms couldn’t keep us away from the tasting tents, where we roamed from chef to chef and tried everything we could get our hands on.  It was the perfect way to end a weekend full of our favorite things: friends, food, wine and dinner parties. Truly, MKR
