And so it begins, friends. The One Room Challenge 2016. I didn’t even think twice when Linda at Calling It Home tapped us for our third ORC. Of course we’ll take part in this fabulously fun, high energy interior design project… it’s been a HUGE highlight for the team in both 2014 and 2015. The challenge introduces us to new friends, connects us with some of our favorite fellow bloggers, and it’s always the perfect kick in the butt to get going (or rather finish) a design project.
As you’ll probably remember, stress usually runs at an all-time high as we take you through a full room design at record speed (well, for me at least!)…in just six weeks. SIX weeks!!! Think delays in product shipments, a hold-up at the upholsterers, a problem with assembly…let’s just say that it can turn into some of the fastest six weeks of our lives. But this year, with two years under my belt, I’m thrilled to tackle what I know will be our best One Room Challenge yet: our stunning WOM office space in ADAC, located in the heart of Atlanta.
So what can you expect? Many of you know by now that I never shy from bold, dramatic decor (hello, bright gallery wall + funky loft!). But I think you’ll be surprised in the One Room Challenge 2016 I’m welcoming a calmer, softer palette, and really relying on textured fabrics, rugs, and a mix of modern and vintage furniture to make the room. I’m even stepping outside my color comfort zone and keeping the walls white, which is something I’ve never done before!! While timing is always a hurdle, this go-around, my true challenge is making the space both beautiful and functional for not only myself, but my growing team. The space is large; so I’ll try to accomplish this by creating dedicated work and live spaces and a handful of varying vignettes.
My mood board is a little sneak peek of what’s to come, but make sure you’re following along on Instagram and Snapchat (usernamer waitingonmartha) to get plenty of behind-the-scenes access. And if this is your first introduction to the One Room Challenge, I suggest taking a stroll down memory lane as House Beautiful shares some of its favorite One Room Challenge reveals. So ,are we ready?! I know I am, and I have a feeling it’s going to be one of the most satisfying design projects I work on all year. Truly, MKR
YAY!!! Cannot wait to follow along!!! <3
I am already loving these muted colors. That blush chair from West Elm is a favorite!

I’m going to dive in and guest participate too and after searching through everyone’s posts, I’m feeling so inspired to get going! Good luck–can’t wait to see more!
