I know, I know, you don’t even have to say it; from head to toe what I’m wearing is a tad on the expensive side. But here’s the thing; this look is 100% comprised of have-it-forever-wear-it-forever-classics. And it’s those “forever” items that I believe are truly worth the splurge.
For example, this black peplum top and tailored black trousers. Both classic, both can be dressed up or down, both are pieces that will be on constant closet rotation. Then there’s a great pair of black heels. Personally I always go for patent leather whenever possible because it’s practically indestructible. And I always try to avoid a leather heel because the heel is the easiest to tear up and the first place to show age. However, I did just hear about these; has anyone tried them yet? Lastly, find a seamstress you trust. Unless you’re buying couture, no size fits every shape so spending a little bit extra to get pants hemmed, sleeves shortened, and the occasional nip and tuck will always be worth it.
What is it that Miles Redd says, “buy the best and you will only cry once.” What are those pieces that are worth the splurge for you? Truly, MKR
