The Haunting Holiday

The Haunting Season, Waiting On Martha Halloween

Okay I admit it, I’m not a huge fan of Halloween.  I’m a fan just not a huge fan.  I like the candy, the kids costumes (I don’t do costumes) and the haunting side of it all, but if I’m being honest it runs a little too close to my favorite holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) to get my full attention.  However, I do like that Halloween kicks of the holiday season, it does fall during my absolute favorite season fall, and I’ve been known to love a skull motif, so this year I’m trying to get a little more in the spirit.  Happy Haunting Loves!  Truly, MKR

P.S.  See this shoot in its entirety complete with Halloween recipes right HERE and we’re offering 20% off ALL Halloween for the next 48 hours in The Shop code HAUNTED at checkout.

On My Mind, September

ThinkingOf2 ThinkingOf ThinkingOf1 thinkingof6 ThinkingOf3

No. 1, Chunky Sweaters.  I picked up this one from Zara and have my eye on this gem and these fabulous sweater capes.  Throw them on with a boyfriend button down, leggings, and boots for the perfect everyday outfit.

No. 2, Back to School Essentials.  You’re never to old for “back to school” shopping and there’s nothing better then the smell of freshly sharpened pencils and a new planner just waiting to be filled up.

No. 3, France.  The Mr. and I are planning a big trip to France this spring to celebrate a my birthday and we may just renew our vows.  I mean how can I pass up some major photo opps on the streets of Paris or a field of lavender?

No. 4, Men’s Accessories.  I would classify my style as feminine-tomboy (if that even makes sense) and along with boyfriend jeans, button downs, and loafers I’m also mildly obsessed with men’s accessories.  From this Daniel Wellington watch to an extra large gold signet ring, borrowed from the boys has never looked so good.

No. 5, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes.  No explanation needed.

No. 6, Wine Country.  While wine is always on my mind, its more so now than ever.  I’ll be headed back to Cali, specifically Sonoma, next week for an exciting partnership with La Crema which I’ll be sharing more about on Friday, but in the mean time lets just say I’ve never been so excited to spend my favorite time of year (fall) checking off a major item on my bucket list.  So that’s me, whats on your mind this September?  truly, MKR

The Top 15 Essentials Every Bar Cart Must Have

Top 15 Bar Cart Essentials

We’ve had a lot of love lately for our Bar Cart both HERE on the Blog and HERE on Instagram.  We’ve also had a lot of questions, about building a proper bar cart.  So I thought I’d share with you all my top 15 essentials that every bar cart must have.  Cheers!  truly, MKR

One.  Display worthy glasses.  I’m loving these from One Kings Lane…what a great price!  ||  Two.  A shaker.  I collect shakers, but every bar cart needs at least one shaker and I’m loving this one complete with anchor picks for a fun gift or this tried and true shaker.  ||  Three.  Cocktail Napkins, the “cheekier” the better.  ||  Four.  Some flair.  ||  Five.  A proper tool set.  ||  Six.  A Muddler.  ||  Seven.  Fresh flowers.  ||  Eight.  An ice bucket.  ||  Nine.  A candle, because candles really can (and should) go everywhere.  And splurge on one that once done burning can be used to hold something, like swizzle sticks or straws.  ||  Ten.  Cocktail Napkins (yes again) or coasters to mix it up.  ||  Eleven.  A bartender’s dictionary.  ||  Twelve.  Beautiful wine.  While my bar cart doesn’t house the majority of my wine (4 wine fridges do, don’t judge) some of the most beautiful and decorative bottles are out on the cart.  ||  Thirteen.  A Decanter, I’m loving this skull from Pottery Barn.  ||  Fourteen.  Matches.  ||  Fifteen.  A decorative bowl for all the corks because every cart should have a personal collection of some sort, like corks you’ve collected from great bottles opened or vintage swizzle sticks.  Just something that’s personal, and interesting.

The scarf necklace by MIGNONNE GAVIGAN NEW YORK as seen on Waiting On Martha

A few weeks ago while perusing some of my favorite blogs I saw the most amazing necklace.  Or was it a scarf?  Who knew?  All I knew is I wanted it, but with time being what time is (a thief), I simply pinned the image and moved on with my day.  Then I saw it again (a different design, but I knew it had to be the same).  So I took this as a sign from the universe and clicked over to Mignonne Gavigan.  MG is the insanely talented creator of these amazing scarf necklaces that I am now lusting, coveting, wish listing, obsessing, etc, etc, over.  Not only are they some of the most exquisite pieces I’ve laid my eyes on in awhile, they’re so original, which is hard to come by these days.  Plus they would go perfectly with my uniform of boyfriend shirts and jeans.  Now the questions, which one?  truly, MKR
